May is kind of a busy month for me but it's all fun stuff!

To do:

*Meet with hair stylist and make a decision on wedding hair (May 2nd)

*Order hair accessories

*Order jewelry

*Food tasting! (May 17th)

*Finalize menu

*Schedule cake tasting possibly for June

*Order a long line bra

*Finalize vacation house rental for wedding weekend

*Finish ceremony draft (this is always on my list!)

*Continue compiling reception music

*Reserve rental car for wedding weekend

*Keep practicing makeup

1. go pickup dress (it came in yesterday!) & start alterations? (is it too early?) - tried on my dress this weekend, it fits REALLY well! i will have alterations done starting july 18th, so they will hold on to the dress until i'm done. i think i will only need a hem/bustle, the bodice fits very well.
2. tuxes (5/12) - done and decided! just need to tell the groomsmen and have them go get fitted.
3. finish scrapbook and table numbers - done!
4. pick out readings for our ceremony -getting there, i narrowed them down but I need Dan to help me pick.
5. pick out accessories - FMIL bought the matching necklace to her earrings that i'm borrowing. all i have left is if i want a bracelet or not.
6. spraypaint birdcages
7. begin addressing invites/figure out postage - started. i put stamps on all the RSVP envelopes. I had the invites weighed and ordered postage for the outer envelopes.
8. finish filling out registry - made progress here, not completely done though
9. work on slideshow/figure out how to display it (rental from DJ vs. reception hall)
10. order flower girl dress
11. book dancing lessons - scheduled for 7/7, our 1 year anniversary of being engaged and 5 year dating anniversary!

My May Goals:

- Have GM order/get messured for suits  Ugh, not yet.

- Make 2nd of 3 payments to photographer  

- Set up registry at Macys  TONIGHT!

- Finalize all registries 2/3 Done

- Send back contract to DJ  DONE!

- Final BM to try on dress (5/19)

- Book HM, both the cruise & flight DONE!

- Finish card box

- Focus on flowers

- Have all parents proof invites  Done with first round... 2nd round this weekend.

I tried to go back & find the April post to see what I'd actually gotten done that was on my April list! Heehee. I know we got our wedding bands, picked a bridesmaids' dress, tasted cake, and had my make-up trial. And ok'ed the final invitation proofs.

May, yikes! May, yay!

- OFFICIANT! Must, must, must do. Actually in progress!! I think a good friend of mine will be doing this. She has done 2 other weddings, she's a great public speaker and I have known her for 20 years. Yay!

- Pick up invitations. Maybe start addressing? Picked up invitations today! So pretty!

- Registries. Fi's out of town til 5/12, so this'll be on the back half of the month. Went to Crate & Barrel tonight and did that one. Will go to Macy's in the next week and do that. Set up REI online already (that will just be a smallish one, a half-dozen things maybe).

- Decide on ceremony music- live musicians I think. Been dragging my heels on calling anyone. Made contact w/ the musicians. She's pretty sure they're free on our date, will get back to me as soon as she gets a firm response from a wedding coordinator.

- Figure out the whole rentals thing- tablecloths, flatware, etc. BORING. Also somethng tedious I have been avoiding. Needing info from the venue, and the owner is out of town til Friday.

- Scout out a rehearsal dinner plan.

- Receive & sign contracts from baker, caterer. Caterer is still making me nervous. I contacted her around the 10th and she said she was working on her summer contracts, but darn it, she cashed my deposit on 3/26. How hard is it to write up a contract? Presumably they all are pretty much the same, with some items tweaked? Barked up the caterer's tree and have a rough draft contract at last, but need some info from the venue first, and she's out of town til Friday. But at least we're getting stuff on paper now. Also emailed the baker.

- Plan engagement photos. In contact w/ photographer, sorting out a date that will work.

- Make alterations app't for July (?).

- Select & order groomsmen's ties.

I also tried to find my April To Do list because I know I didn't get everything done.  Here's what's on the list for May:

Have e-pics taken (finally!)
Pay musician for church
Remind FI to get his passport
Order gift for Dad from etsy
Buy undergarments for dress (no clue what to wear)
Start taking photos of my pups for the table numbers
Buy or make a fingerprint tree guest book

Hopefully I can actually get it all done!

Ok, I've been feeling like I don't have a lot to do this month, but then I know next month I will be overwhelmed. So here I go:

1) Find an officiator. I put my mom and brother on this a month ago and nothing has happened

2) Search for center piece vases

3) find bridesmaid jewelry.
4) Get a shower and bachlorette list for MOH (this was added thanks to you all!!!)
5) Make music list for DJ
6) Get an idea of table seating based on who is invited
7) Start working on a day of schedule
8) Start looking for affordable rehearsal dinner places.
9) Save, Save, Save!

Between wedding planning and just life in general, May is going to be a VERY busy month for us.

-Cut wood slabs for centerpieces
-Apply polyurethane to wood (one coat done!)
-Assemble invitations - (will arrive May 15) STARTED
-Address invitations -STARTED
-Order outer envelopes
-Suit shopping for groom/groomsmen (scheduled for May 12)
-First meeting with DJ (May 14)
-Cut wood for wedding direction signs
-DIY wedding direction signs (3/4 done)
-DIY "Love is Sweet" sign for cake table -STARTED
-Still haven't found shoes (ordered one pair but they didn't fit) -WAITING FOR SALE!!
-Pick up dress!! (Should arrive week of May 14) Got an email yesterday saying it is in!!  Going to pick up (May 11)
-Order my wedding band (found one we like)
-Make a decision on Officiant (the one we wanted is being really flakey)
-Decide on cake topper
-Shower list/addresses to MOB
-Shower list/addresses to FI cousin for shower
