FI and I are going to meet with a realtor tomorrow! It's our first time and we are at the very early phases of finding a new place (no rush since right now we are with good ol mom and dad). Last night we went to see an apartment and it confirmed our suspicions that we have just outgrown apartments. We need a townhouse or single-family home. We are not rolling in the money (FI starts his new job Monday though yay) to buy really, but there are a lot of great rentals out there right now and some houses people are trying to move at any cost (lots of forcolsures in SoFl). Ideally we'd find a 2 bedroom rental we'd be happy in for a while while we saved and until we were ready for kids (at least 2 years) or something 3-4 bedrooms we would hands down buy if we had money that would let us rent to own. FI's sister and parents both have told us that our wedding gift is going to be a large sum of money meant to put towards a house, so FI thinks if we fell in love with something we could get the gift early. Tomorrow is really to just get our feet wet with what we like and don't and see what's out there. We rushed into renting an apartment a while ago after seeing it only once and ended up not liking it but having to finish out the year lease. We want to take more time this time around since it'll be for a longer term.
