Ushers

Are any of you ladies having ushers? Is it still common or more of an older tradition? My FI and I just started thinking about it and it never occurred to me to have them. Do they come to the rehearsal dinner? Are they technically part of the WP?

We're having a very small wedding party - just one attendant each - but I did want my nephews to participate so they will be ushers.  I have invited them to the RD, but would have done so anyway since they are family.

We're having ushers. They are part of our wedding party. They're invited to the rehearsal, because they need to know in advance where they're coming in from, where the doors are, where bathrooms are (in case people ask them), and where they should sit once they're done with the usher duties.

Since they're attending the rehearsal, they also should be invited to the rehearsal dinner.

we're having ushers. they are coming to the rehearsal & rehearsal dinner. our church is sort of complicated - there's a new side and an old side. the parking lot is closer to the new side, but our wedding will be on the old side. i'm thinking of having one stationed at the entrance near the parking lot, to tell the guests to go around to the other side, and the other one to escort them to their seats. i asked my high-school age cousins to do it.

We are having 2 ushers. They are coming to the rehearsal and RHD. I don't think I have been to a wedding where they didn't have ushers.

We're not having ushers and my about had a cow. But we're having a small, informal wedding with no designated sides for ceremony seating. It just wasn't a fit for us.

We're doing ushers.  My brother and FI's cousin are our two ushers.  They will both be invited to the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner (assuming we have one).  My brother's kid is our ring bearer so he needed to be there anyway.  We won't have them sit with the wedding party, but they'll be at tables with family close by.

My Fi's little brothers are our ushers.  They will be at the rehearsal and the RD.  We consider them part of the wedding party.

We are having two groomsmen serve as ushers. They will seat guests then go back to walk in with FI and the rest of the GMs

We are only having one usher and he is a friend of ours.  He is going to greet guests as they come in and then his main job is to walk my grandma and also my Mom down the aisle.  We consider him part of our wedding party and he will be at the rehearsal and the dinner.
