should i meet with the cake lady?

The wedding cordinator stated to me last year that they go with a certain person to make the cakes, because in the past people would bring in their own cakes and they didnt hold up well.  The wedding cord told me her cakes are very good. (um if i have to pay for my cake i should be the one to decide if it is good or not, right?) so whatever i talk with the cake lady several times.  showed her pictures and discussed a date to meet up with her to test the cakes and see her pictures...of course the woman doesnt have email!  But now that I am thinking about it and the date is coming up to meet her i am thinking i really dont want to travel 2hours to meet with this lady if i HAVE to use her....what should i do?

I would meet with her and taste the cake.  You might walk in thinking you know exactly what you want, but then taste that flavor and it isn't very good compared to some of her other flavors.  With that said, you'll never know if you only choose one flavor and don't go to the meeting.

I'd say you should meet her. Wouldn't it be worth it if you visit with her and you hate her cakes?

On the other hand, isn't it worth it to visit, learn that you love her cakes, etc, and that you don't have to worry about this vendor?

Does the venue require using a certain vendor? Otherwise, it isn't up to the coordinator who you have to use.

If you can swing it, I would probably go just to give yourself the peace of mind.

<div>Definitely contact the wedding coordinator first. From your first post, it sounded like you have a choice. Check your contract, if they want you to use a specific vendor, it should be listed there.</div>
