Are you breaking in your shoes?

What are you girls doing about breaking in your shoes? Are you going to wear them around before the wedding?

My brother's FI gave me a pair of brown cowboy boots she only wore once, and I decided to wear them as my "something borrowed." But they are so stiff and the shafts are really flat from being stored. I wore them once for a dinner we went to and they were comfy but still have that clear crease in them from being stored. Should I wear them around more and hope I don't get them too dirty, just so they break in?

Once I decide on shoes I plan on just wearing them around the house after work and on the weekends.  Vacuuming and cleaning should help break them in and then I'll be able to tell how comfy they will be on the day of.  I'm having an outside wedding and don't plan on changing my shoes for the reception so I want something comfy.

  • Ditto PP - I plan to wear them around my apartment to help break them in and make sure I can tolerate standing in them for extended periods of time. Don't plan to wear them out on the town or anything though.

  • Yes, I'll definitely have to do that - I'm gonna have sore feet no matter what tho. I love my shoes but I wish I would have found something that would be more comfortable.
I will also be practicing our dance in my shoes - to make sure I don't fall flat on my BUTT.

  • I definately plan on breaking in my shoes before hand starting this weekend when I get them! But like the other's I plan on only wearing them inside.
  • I plan on breaking them in once I get them.  I'm weird and all about FI not seeing anything I will be wearing for the wedding but  I can't help this part of it... he's going to see it.  I suck at walking in heels and will need all of the practice I can get.

  • Hahaha and what FI wouldn't love to see us doing housework in heels!
  • They are cowboy boots I would wear them out and about if they  get dirty ( providing they are not deerskin or something like that) they a fairly easy to clean. I would break them in. I personally think they look better broken in anyways.

  • I swiped some shoe covers from work (hospital), so later in the summer I'll wear 'em around the house to break them in. I have heels for the ceremony and wedges to change into, so I guess I should work on both of them.

  • I'll probably wear mine around the house a month or so before the wedding.
    Anniversary
  • I planned on wearing around the house from time to time. I've done it for about 1/2 an hour so far... Now my FI is on the same work schedule as me so I'm not sure how much time I'll really get "breaking" them in since he doesn't even want to see my shoes. But I figured I can suffer through photos and the ceremony (especially since it is on grass) and then it will be time to change into flipflops or something relaxing for the reception.

  • My e pic shoes are killer.  I could barely stand walking around in them.  But for a couple months I would wear them doing laundry, dishes, vacuuming, etc.  I wore them for hours on my e pic day and they were fine.  I will DEFINITELY be breaking in my wedding shoes for a couple months even though they're actually super comfortable for heels.

  • I'm planning on wearing mine to our dance classes so I can get used to dancing in heels. I figure after those sessions I can decide if I'm going to need to continue breaking them in or if they're kind enough to my feet to stop wearing them around! ;)

  • I wear mine around the house doing chores like dishes just to break them in. I don't wanna wear them out anywhere because I plan on saving that for the wedding :P
  • I'm getting new boots.  The ones I think I finally settled on were really comfortable when I walked around the store so I think I would just wear them out a couple times before the wedding.

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.
