Budget Brides Might Be Interested

I went and got my brows waxed last night at Empire Beauty School and I picked up one of their pamphlets with all the services. They have a bridal package for $50 including an updo, facial and mani-pedi.  Just thought that might help someone out who was on a tight budget.

oh yes!  I am very interested!  Where is this place? I wonder if they will come to my house the day of.  And does it say anything about that price including the trial? Thanks for the info!

The one I went to is in West Mifflin, there's some type of beauty academy in West View that you might want to call and ask about any specials they have (I'm not sure if there are any in Shaler closer to you Sara).  I think you would have to pay for a separate hair trial, I'm not sure what that would cost (probably still alot less than regular beauty shops).  If you call, maybe explain to them when your wedding is so that they would give you someone for the trial that would be there when you got married.I don't think they'd come to you since it's basically advanced students who are being observed and guided by their instructors...who would be there to help if something wasn't the way it was supposed to turn out.I've had good experiences when I've gone.  I hate to pay $25+ to get my hair trimmed straight across the bottom and I'd much rather tip the hairstylist more $ instead of it just going to the shop's overhead.I forgot to mention this in the above post, and this isn't just for brides, but they are doing a $16 mani-pedi day on August 26th or 27th, I can't remember which, but call and ask if you're interested.  I'm not going to be in town or I'd have "splurged" lol.

There might be a chance that a stylist from there would be available to come to you for your wedding day and charge a reasonable rate.  My stylist came to us and charged us really reasonable prices because her salon was closed that day, so it was $$ for her since she would have otherwise been off.

I'll have to look into that.  Thanks ladies!

I believe there is a beauty academy on McKnight Road (south end) that does similar services. I remember getting a brochure about it and the prices were super low for their services. I used to drive past it every day for work and I cannot remember the name of it!

wait whhaatt? $16 mani/pedi's?! where is this again? empire beauty school? are there more locations, or just those 2?

JB, try googling Empire Beauty School, there are more locations (they might have different days for the promos or different promos as well so I'd call first), the one in West View is some other academy, not empire, can't remember the name though.

Sounds like a great deal, but just be careful with getting a facial too close to the wedding. I know my salon recommends about a week and a half out incase you would have any kind of negative reaction.

I went to the Empire Beauty that in on McKnight rd. Ther are only a couple down sides # 1 being you have to makes sure that the person that does your hair will still be in school that day. school is not mandatory and therefore if the student stylist does not want to go to class nothing forces him or her to be there.#2 if you find a student that you like enough to do your hair on the big day you should check with him or her to make shure that she will not finish school before the big day (the program at Empire last about 9 months) the students that are out on the floor doing clients hair uaully only have about 4 months of school left. #3 Since most weddings are on saturdays you might want to check with an Empire staff member to varify that the school will be open that day. Most of the time the school is only open M-F and Saturdays are reserved for make up days for students who are behind in hours or who are behind in work. And even if your student sylist  wants to come in to do your hair on that day thay may not be given the option if the school is not open that day.Just a couple of tips :)

I currently go to school at empire on mcknight. There are a couple girls who will also do your make up on your wedding day if you ask them to. They are really really good. There are also a few of them that do exceptional work in updo's. Our program is nine months, that is if you come everyday all day. You cannot graduate without your hours completed. If you miss one day, that either sets your grad date back a day or you have to come in when we have lockins (students only) and get the hours that way. Everyone is supervised by a licensed cosmetologist, which all of the teachers all, and they have to be checked by the teacher on the floor. They do good work. If you want more info just page me. I would be glad to give ya any.
