Accountability - Tuesday

Alright, well my long weekend has come to an end so back to work this morning. We slacked quite a bit on the workouts, minus taking the dogs for walks. Starting tomorrow we're getting back on track. Run in the morning at the gym, working out in the evening when I get home. As of today I have 4 months to be in shape!

How is everyone else doing?

Re: Accountability - Tuesday

  • I did 50K on Sunday and another 40K on Monday on the bike - my body is TIRED.
I still did a kettle bell workout this morning but I couldn't push as hard as I wanted to.

I ate some not so healthy stuff this weekend and my tummy paid for it, so it's back to healthy eating today.... and of course I have cake and cookies sitting in front of me right now (everyone puts baked goods at my desk for the office staff - good thing I have will power!).

  • I got a membership to the pool and have been swimming laps for 60min everytime I go. My goal is to make it to the pool at least 3 times a week for the next 4 months. So far so good just got to watch my diet and make sure I keep eating healthy and sticking to my workout plan.

  • Saturday my friends bachelorette party so I ate and drank horribly all day and then was a waste on Sunday. Ran to and from the gym yesterday and did the abs class. Doing yoga tonight.

Going out to lunch with coworkers today and I already looked up the menu and choose a low calorie option.

  • I STILL haven't gotten back on track with working out. Every day I planned on working out has been thwarted by something. I hate having excuses and life happens but it has been happening a lot lately haha. Until my accelerated class is over June 16 I think I'm just not going to do as much as I want and need to accept that (I'm pretty frustrated with myself right now). I do know that back in February I put in only 3 weeks of healthy eating and JM workouts 3-4 times a week and made huge strides and was at my best so I can get where I want to be for the wedding as long as I get on track by August-ish. After June 16 I should be able to get back on track but I just want to be healthy in general. Think I'm just going to be reasonable about the demands in my life at the moment and just aim for twice a week.
  • I've been horrible about working out lately. Lots of travel and craziness. I'm looking to break the bad streak and start a good one - yesterday I did 30 day Shred, and I'm going to try to do it again tonight.

I started doing Visalus shakes for breakfast and lunch about a month ago, and unfortunately I haven't seen any results from that. I haven't been doing it most weekends, so I'm hoping if I'm just a little more vigilent about 2 shakes a day, 7 days a week, and relatively healthy/low cal dinners, I'll start to see some positive results in the next month. I mean, I don't have any illusions that the shake mix is any sort of magic, but I should be losing lbs based on decreased calorie intake, no? The base shake is only 90 calories, and at max, they're 300 calories with fruit, etc. blended in.

I'm a bit frustrated, but trying to stay positive.
  • Be patient with yourself, you're bound to slip, everyone does. The trick is how you pick yourself up when you fall ;)

I would make sure you are getting enough calories. If your body feels like it is in starvation mode, it is going to hold onto every pound it can. Check out this calculator to see what you should be consuming....http://caloriecount.about.com/cc/calories-goal.php It is based on losing 1 pound a week which is ideal...max 2 pounds if you want to keep it off. Losing weight quickly can be extremely dangerous and end up in yo-yoing. But starving yourself is no good either. If you are only eating 600 calories from the shakes unless you are eating a reasonable to big dinner, it may not be enough (especially if you get back into working out a lot).
