BM Dresses

Ok so I thought that I was doing everyone a favor (8 BMs) by telling them to pick whatever grey dress they wanted. I just didn't want it to be too fancy or too casual but I really like the look of everyone dressing different. My wedding is outdoors and is going to be somewhat casual. 

Now everyone is telling me that they can't seem to find one. So this weekend I’m going to Houston with my MOH and sister-in-law who is BM in hopes of finding something. I'm to the point now that I don't even care if they all match or are all different. I kind of want to stay away from the "bridesmaids dresses" and try to find a dress elsewhere. I think I’m going to try stores such as: Dillards, Nordstroms, the loft, the limited, express...etc. I guess if all else fails I can have them all go get one for David's bridal or somewhere.

Do you have any suggestions on where I should look?

I found my BM dresses at Dillards!  I didn't want a typical bridemaid dress either and knew I wanted short and black.  I was open to different dresses if I had to but preferred uniformity (personal preference).  The dresses we picked were BCBGeneration (more affordable line by BCBG's designer's daughter).  My MOH actually found the dress online.  Pic of the dress is in my bio.  To save yourself some time maybe click through the websites of the big department stores and print out anything you like so someone at the store can help you out. 

Also, did you specify a shade of gray for your girls?  There are a lot of grays and I think if someone told me gray, not too fancy not too casual I wouldn't have known what they wanted.  Maybe you were/could be more specific?

Yeah I'm sure I wasn't specific enough. I just haven't seen very many grey dresses out there, so I didn't want to be too specific. Maybe I'll find a dress online and just send them all the link to order it.

Thanks!  Maybe check out the BCBGeneration website and then check their "where to buy" link...they sell at Bloomingdales, Macys, and Dillards (and you can always order off those stores websites).  They were in the mid to low end of the going rates I've heard for standard BM dresses too.  I'm bored at work so I'll check out some websites for you haha not sure your exact style but maybe you can just get the wheels turning of what you want.

Yeah I'm bored at work too...Probably shouldn't be searching for BM dresses but boss is out today, so why not!?! ha

I don't even know why style I want...I know that doesn't help much.

Found a few at Macys.  I liked these so I'm hoping you will since you said you liked my BM dress (hoping we have simialr style then).  Also depends of the size and shape of your girls.  If Macy's has some gray dresses I bet all the department stores do.  I'd just try to scoop them up quickly because I could see gray become less available as winter ends and spring starts.

These are just a few that caught my eye that weren't too casual or long evening gowns.  There were several gray dresses on the more casual side and on the more formal side.

1st one- probably wouldn't work with all girls bodies.

2nd one- super fun!

3rd one- might be a winner--but it's on Sale which kind of makes me worried they wouldnt all be able to purchase it, but we shall see.

I found some others at different department stores that I just emailed the MOH...I might just have to go back to my original plan which was Orange dresses.

Ok I didn't expect I'd find THE dress for you since that's so personal.  Just thought I'd help you get a feel for what you like/don't like.  I know I wanted short and black and until my MOH showed me her ideas I had no idea beyond that and it really helped.  Good luck!  Be sure to post pics when you find.

Are you doing gray and orange, too?  I'm going for gray dresses and orange flowers.  I've been out bm dress shopping once (and will again tomorrow), and I'm having a heck of a time trying to find gray dresses.  Most of them are a much lighter gray than I'm looking for.  I want a deep charcoal color, but that's super hard to find.  I could see how your girls may be having a difficult time finding dresses, especially with all the spring colors coming out right now.  It might be easier to find something for them and have them just buy that, but good luck and I hope you find what you're looking for!
