Attire for the guys

FI will be home next week (he travels A LOT for work) for a few days and we've got to get a few decisions made. We're 2 hours from the closest large town/city, and so we have to make a day out of a planning trip. In addition to registering, we need to pick a tux.

Where are you renting your tuxes from? Men's Wearhouse is the only chain I know of, so I'd like some other suggestions. I feel like it needs to be a chain, because the groomsmen are spread out. Are you getting all your tuxes at the same store (having the groomsmen measured and order together) or are they each going to a store near them to get their tux?

Also, what are your dads wearing? I know mine will be in a tux, but I thought it would be nice for them all to be in a tux. FMIL and I were chatting when I mentioned all the dad's in tuxes. She said that would be easier for her than going out and buying FSFIL a new suit he'll never wear again. The flip-side is that FFIL is from Hawaii, and dress attire for him is khaki's and a hawaiian shirt. ;) FI seems to think his dad will not wear a suit, so I'm guessing a tux is out. ??

We chose ours from Men's Wearhouse.  FI and I went just the two of us and selected them (and really he just picked them).  We then just e-mailed the men who will be renting tuxes the information they need (they live all over as well). The only other chaings I've heard of are Savvi Formal Wear or Jos. A. Bank.

My FFIL is the best man, so he will be in a tux with the rest of the groomsmen.  My dad is walking me down the aisle and he will be wearing a matching tux as well.

<div>Are your guys getting measured where they live but ordering from the same store as your FI or doing it on their own?  One dilemma is that FI wants to pay for all the tuxes. That would be a little difficult if they all ordered on their own. Also, I'm guessing they need to try them on ahead of time?</div>
  • I'm Canadian so the chains are different, but I can give you some advice with our plans on measurements/ordering. FI is going with a chain that allows them to get measured locally for them and then we'll order all from our location. The guys do occasionally come into town (our wedding party spans across Ontario), and can try them on when they do.
  • I'm in Canada too and FI's brother is in California. All he has to do is go to a local tailor or mens wear store and get all the required measurements and email it back to our store (there was a checklist emailed to us/his brother by the store). The tuxes will both be sent to our store so he doesn't have to bring a tux with him anywhere during his travels.

  • Thanks ladies.

I'm just worried because we are two hours from the closest tux store. If we are ordering and receiving all the tuxes, it will be a nightmare if the guys all arrive for the wedding and something doesn't fit. I'm a little stressed out about it.
  • No, all the guys are going to the Men's Wearhouse closest to them and getting measured and paying there.  The tuxes will be picked up the day before the wedding at a different location that is right by the reception space (we are getting married in my hometown).

If your FI wants to pay, which is super nice, he could just pay the store you are closest to now and then the guys can just come in/call in their measurements.
