photographer timeline

my photographer emailed me yesterday with her timeline for wedding day's events. i'm a bit concerned about the timing. my wedding is during the daytime, with the ceremony starting at 11:30am. i am able to arrive at the venue at 8:30am to start getting ready. there are 4 of us getting our hair and makeup done. according to the timeline, my mom and the 2 girls should be all ready by 8:45 to help me get ready.

this seems impossible. unless i'm supposed to actually start getting ready at my hotel prior to heading over the venue?

i have a scheduled phone meeting with my photographer tonight so i'm going to go over all of this with her as well, but was just wondering if anyone else had concerns over their timeline.

i'm not starting to worry about every little thing as each day passes!

Re: photographer timeline

  • A little confused...why is your photographer making your "getting ready" timeline?  I told my photographer what time I wanted to start taking pictures and I'm deciding my own timeline for hair and makeup and getting dressed from there.  With the creemony being so early are you doing a first look?  This could rush you before and you will probably have to start getting ready before the venue.  I'd probably just look to do a few pictures before (you and your girls, you and your family, FI and his guys, FI and his family) and save the rest for after or it will be a super early morning.
  • we decided against a first look. basically, she's looking to do portraits before the ceremony (just like you listed..with fam, girls, him with fam etc) and then we're taking all our photos during cocktail hour. i'm thinking she's unaware of what time i can actually arrive at the venue.. but honestly, now that i'm thinking about i'm wondering if it makes more sense to at least have the girl's hair/makeup done at the hotel prior to going over to the venue. and then my hair/makeup done at the venue and everyone can get dressed at the venue. because i don't really think it's enough time now.

i don't know, i'm just really stressing now that i'm thinking about it!

  • I think having your girls done early would help.  If you are doing your own makeup, I'd maybe start doing it at the hotel and finish or just do touch-ups.  Someone just advised (and I've heard it before) to not do your hair and makeup last in case you are running late.  If you know you have enough time then I'd go ahead and wait but can't hurt to have it started just in case.  And IMO it works better/still looks nice to touch up makeup easier than it is with hair.
