ceremony pics/ pugnpenguin

hola! we just learned the church we are really excited about allows flash photography only "during the processional and after the couple is recieved". Is this common? Does this mean there wont be any other pictures of the ceremony or can photogs take pics not using a flash?Pugnpenguin- you mentioned having your reception at Bellefield, any insight?

I'm pretty sure they can take non flash during the ceremony. I can check with my photog who has done weddings there. We're just having the ceremony there and going to the Union Project in Highland Park for the reception.

I think this is pretty common. Our church only allowed non-flash photography, and our photog had to be in the balconies, she was not permitted in the sanctuary. So she took non-flash pictures during the ceremony, and then we did some shots afterward of anything she wanted more detail on - such as putting on the rings, lighting the unity candle, etc. While I was initially annoyed that she could not be in the sanctuary, I am really glad those were the rules. This way, our wedding ceremony was not hindered or interrupted by our wonderful photog and she still got all the pictures we wanted.

You can re-do the shots afterwards like Jen did if you have the time. (But some churches give you such little time, it is hard to do this, so check and see). My photog doesn't use flash during the ceremony, just natural light. Some churches don't allow photography at all during the ceremony...we went to one or two of those before. The best thing is to check with the officiant specifically and let your photog know in advance. Also, if your church is well-lit or you can have a lot of lights on, it will help with the non-flash photography.
