Dorkus maximus.

That's me. It's slow at work tonight so I'm practicing signing my married name. Dude, I am 38 years old. I haven't done this since I was 10 and writing "Mrs. Ricky Schroeder" in magic markers in my school notebook (I was so hot for Ricky on Silver Spoons!). But holy moly, I'm glad I'm practicing now, I've been signing my name for a long long time and changing it is gonna be weird!

  • Hahaha, I am having a hard time adjusting to my new name too. FI's last name begins with an E and I can't get my capital E's looking how I want them to.

I'm not legally changing my name but being referred to as Mrs. Higgins is really strange to me.

  • I got off on the name changing thing pretty easy. The new last name will be my first name with a "y" at the end. Basically, I've pretty much had almost 24 years of practice ;)
  • i actually do this all the time when i'm bored in meetings at work. i just "doodle" in my notebook and a lot of times i start signing my name just because it's fun to write. Kelly is just a series of loops, so i just always write it. i dunno, i'm weird i guess in that i really like how my name looks in cursive. Lately, i've just started adding his last name on the end to see what it looks like. it actually doesn't flow as well in cursive as my current last name does, so i'm trying to get used to it. Having a new last name hasn't weirded me out at all yet. I actually think my new name will sound better than my current name, so i am sort of excited.
    Happily married since 9/1/2012!

[QUOTE]I hear ya. There's an i and a z and a t and that's a lot of letters I haven't been signing. With dots and crosses and stuff. :P Practice makes perfect? Also- my signature is completely illegible. It kind of looks like Arabic, I've been told. I'm kinda almost thinking...why change my squiggle? I mean, my name will change, but who could tell that I'm not signing the new one if they can't read it? Right? :P

Same here! My new one will be starting with an E and all of my capitol cursive E's look dumb. lol!

  • I got my E down pat! In my sig now, the only thing legible is an E and K.. which if I start to do the K for my last name I can technically use it for my middle initial and add a B... but yeah, this is going to be tough.

Susan and Morena, look on a font website and look at cursive/handwriting fonts (most of them have a text box for you to put example text in so you can see your name in that font). My fave websites are 1001fonts.com and dafont.com

my E looks like this one
  • I do this too! I'm really struggling with how to do it though. I haven't found a way I like yet. FI's last name is quite a bit longer than my current one. I think i'm going to end up jsut doing the M and squiggles even though I sign somewhat legibly. Never though I'd attempt to write messier but my first name is kinda long and with a new long last name it'll take me all day!
