Must have photos

Hi ladies,  I am trying to create a picture portfolio for my photographer of my must have photos, but I need some ideas.  So my question is:  What are or what were your must have photos?  If you can PLEASE PIP so I can see them!  TIA!Here are a few I know I have to have, that are done by my photog:

I figured that my photographers were professionals and that I hired them because I loved their photography.    I didn't think that they needed a list of "must" takes.  Also, it would have been one more needless thing to deal with.  If you want to take a look.  All of my wedding photos are up in my bio.

I apologize that I don't know who the first 2 belong to. I know I did get them off the knot though. The last one is from my photog's site (though we had this shot taken in church vs. the park). I also really like some of KR's pics, esp. the one with the rings/newspaper. We did a shot of this too- thanks for the inspiration KR! I don't think I ever mentioned it.

I agree with pp. I did not get my photog a list of pictures. I hired her because I trust her to capture all the right moments and she did. Also, I feel like it is way too much pressure to try and recreate a moment that was taken by someone else. Just my two cents :-)

I suppose it depends on your photog- I know mine often takes the same shots, so I wanted to throw some fresh ideas in there. I didn't go crazy though- just wanted the ones in my post.

Aw, thanks Kim.I had a small mental list of pics that I liked and wanted my photog to take, but I didn't show him other pics.  Just said - I really want a picture of all of my "somethings" (old, new, etc) together, we want a pic of all college alumni together, etc.  I trusted him to do his job - especially since he is a good family friend and has been photographing me since I was small.  Keep in mind that a lot of those might be hard to recreate.  For example, no window in my parents house would have looked like that shot above.  It is beautiful, but not practical for where we got ready.  HTH!

The only must take photos I'm giving my photog are of specific people/groups that I want to be sure to get (my grandparents and their great-grand kids for example).  Otherwise, FI and I are with Shannon--he is the professional and I hired him to do his job.

We created a list of formal alter photos we wanted (for example: parents of the bride with bride and groom, bride and groom with brides siblings, etc).  After that I let our photog do his thing. I came up with some ideas while he was shooting our "fun" pictures, so I'd suggest them and we made them work. Otherwise he just told us how to pose and we did it. I trusted him and our pictures turned out great!

I sent my photog (Dana) 3 or 4 pictures that I wanted, but told her we trusted her to do whatever!  She actually downloaded those photos on her Blackberry so that on the wedding day she could remember and we re-created them.  I am glad we got those few that I really wanted, but the other poses that she put us in were just as awesome!

Ditto colleen and skyblue. I think it is important to have a list of the groups of people that you want and their names specifically to round everyone up quickly.I know my photog's usual shots and I was fine with that. The best shots are the shots he came up with in the moment. It is really hard to recreate a shot someone else took. I'd say to give a general idea, but not specific shots exactly.(For example, every single bride loves that shot where all the guests are in black and white and the bride and groom are in color dancing...and that's not even a shot, it is a Photoshop trick) :)

Ditto PP. I trusted my photog to come up with beautiful and creative shots and she did! She got everything I could have ever wanted plus more. I also didn't want to put her under pressure to try to "recreate" things. HTH!

I also stole your ring shot, KR! :) I had my parents bring me the paper to the hotel that morning! :)
