Registry

When do yall plan to register??  We think we're going to go in March with another couple (the one that's getting married 2 weeks before we are).  Do you think that's okay timing?  We want to go soonish (I've had A LOT of people asking lately), but want to make sure that most of what we register for will still be on the shelves in the summer, when most people will buy gifts.

What are your plans??

Re: Registry

  • FI and I are going in March, too. It's 6 months out and I'm just so excited to get it done =) It's a little early for us. No one's been asking yet. I know the bridal shower from my mom/MOH will be around August... no idea if I'll even get one with FMIL. But I'll keep an eye on it.

I say March is fine as long as you check it time to time... especially if people are asking you guys about it.
  • I was thinkinf about waiting until May or June. My sister who is also my MOH is going to Phuket, for 2 weeks in August. So im guessing the shower will be in August, around my bday.
  • We're planning on March too, but I got a thing in the mail from Target that if I start a registry in store with them by the end of February then I'll get a $20 gift card. So I guess we'll start one then and then finish it + do the other stores in March.

  • I started it last weekend. I had family asking about it with both my FI and my birthdays coming up. I also start school Tuesday and this is my last semester so its going to be crazy. Registering turned out to be a lengthy process and we are no where near done. Start now going through each room or sit down together and figure exactly what you guys want/need.

  • we actually went today. we were planning on crate and barrel and macy's but nothing at crate really stuck out to us. more decorative items. FI and I have living together for 4 years already - so we have a lot of stuff. we ended up only registering with macy's. we might do target - although FI isn't sold on it. we still have a lot of time - but as PPs have said, ppl were asking us and kinda upset we didn't have it done for christmas(we got engaged in august).
  • We already started one, so that people would stop bugging us hahaha but its great because the store does an online registry so I can just go add things to it when I get time to stop and think about it hahaha

I've heard really awful things about Target registeries, just so you know!

  • We have already registered at Belk, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Williams-Sonoma.  I had my cookware discontinued, but I just picked new ones.  I loved registering, but it was WAY more effort than I expected!

  • We'll be doing a Target registry in February. I got a coupon for a free $20 gift card if we create a registy by the end of Feb. I can always manage it online if something gets discontinued, etc. We'll probably do two other stores, or one store and an online registry like Amazon or something (just so there's some variety) sometime in March.
  • They had a "Sip and Scan" party at Macys last weekend so we registered again, we had done a bunch of it online, but it was super fun, when you set up your registry at places they usually send out an email of when they are being held. Its basically they pick a time when the store is slow and set out food and drinks and then you get to go crazy scanning stuff. Its nice because they have extra staff on to help with questions too.

We registered this early because we were putting our registry on our save the dates, and those are being sent out early because we have a lot of out of town guest, we also have a lot of out of town guest that probably wont actually come, but might sent a gift, so we wanted it to be all ready just in case.

  • We started our registry at Macy's in December because some people were asking us to start one for Christmas gifts. Of course, no one actually PURCHASED anything from the registry, so it was kind of a waste! But it was nice to get started. A lot of things have already been discontinued, so we will just have to update on line.

This weekend we also registered at Crate & Barrel and Bed, Bath, & Beyond.

So, we are done. I'll just have to pop in online closer to the shower and update for anything else that has been discontinued.

  • We registered before christmas too. We had people asking so we went ahead and we actually got things for Christmas, which I am totally ok with. FI has his own house but it is not furnished much at all. It definitely needs a "woman's touch" he was excited about picking things out and making his house look like "our house" he has already started calling it that. I am only 23 and graduated college last year so I just moved back in with my parents until the wedding!

  • I would definitely recommend Bed Bath and Beyond! I love it when people register there because I get to use my 20% off coupons!! Laughing
  • We're going to one of the C&B registry parties on Feb. 5 (glad it's early so I can still get home and do some Super Bowl cooking!)

We're going to so a smaller Amazon Universal Registry with a few random things -- like some camping stuff from REI or some specialty stuff from Williams Sonoma.

  • We started ours this past weekend.  I was looking at our calendar for the next few months, and there just isn't time.  So, we decided to go ahead and get it out of the way.

  • We did ours earlier this month. Nobody was asking me about it I am just really impatient =p We are not 100% done with it, I will add/remove stuff as we get closer to the showers/wedding.

  • We are starting ours on the 31st of this month - Bed Bath and Beyond is having a registry event so we're kicking it off with that. Then Feb 5th we are doing a Crate and Barrel Registry event.
I figure, might as well do the events and have a little more fun with it all :)
We want to do the Macy's event, but there isn't one close to us at a convenient time, so we'll just be doing the Macy's registry on our own - definitely before the end of February.

Its just something that I want checked off my todo list :)

I've also heard REALLY bad things about the Target registry, so we're staying far away from that one.

<div>I know, I know. I have too. I think we may just do little things at Target and save most of it for the other stores.</div>

  • I think we will wait until April when I'm done school. My shower will be in July (hopefully) because some out of town aunties said they would like to come if it's not too close to the wedding.

Wow I'm surprised to see how mnay of you have already registered.  I think we're still going to wait though as our calendar isn't as full since I graduated in December (yay!)- it just feels like I have sooo much more time now that I'm only working haha.

We were planning on Macy's & Target.  We were going to do a sip & scan event because we've heard good things about them.  I haven't heard bad things about Target and a lot of my friends have registered there.  What have you heard that's bad?  I am reluctant to take them off our list because I love their stuff & our small kitchen appliances are a lot cheaper there than at Macy's.  I hope it's not too bad because I can't think of anywhere else we'd register.  C&B isn't practical for us and I detest Bed Bath & Beyond so would never register there.  And I would never register at Wal Mart hahaha... so hopefully I can just look past whatever the Target problems are.

<div>The two main things I've heard are that the registry itself is glitchy (the website doesn't work, your entire registry gets erased, etc) and that their customer service/return policy sucks.</div>

<div>Ditto this. There are a lot of posts about Target's registry from time to time on the registry board. It was anough to sppok me away, but maybe it won't be like that for you since you said you had friends register there?</div><div>
</div><div>Oh! I meant to ask you... you wore a Mod Cloth dress for your graduation right? I was gonna ask about the quality because I've been considering buying from there.</div>
