Welcome Basket help!

Hey September 2012 brides! I've heard good things about this group and am excited to be apart of it! My fiancee and I are getting married in cape cod Massachusetts. I'm originally from there and my groom is from New York. We both currently live in New York. My question is about welcome baskets. We plan on doing several for all our out of town guests. We want to include clever snacks to incorporate our Massachusetts/New York selves. So far on our list are:cape cod potato chips, case cod salt water taffy and new York bagels chips. Any suggestions you guys have for fun snack ideas? Any help would be great!! Thanks so much :

Re: Welcome Basket help!

  • I know this isn't a snack, but best thing I ever got in a welcome basket was a bottle of water :P because you get into all the snacks, and then you're thirsty!!! lol

    Welcome to the board :)
  • You could do bottles of water and order labels with your names/wedding dates on them! You can order labels really cheap off vista print.

  • That's great!! Thanks!! I was going to do bottled water but thought the labels were expensive for what it was and it wasn't a big deal but if I can get them reasonably that's awesome!! Thank you
  • Oh good!  I'm glad you decided to come on over and join us! :)

  • I love Cape Cod! Welcome to the board. This is probably corny but what about an apple? A candy/caramel or just plain apple with some kind of note referring to NY as "the big apple"?

    Here's my $.02

I like the snacks, I especially like the water.  I don't necessarily like the "basket" thing, simply because people don't always have the room to take the basket back with them and it can go to waste. (left in the room and maid throws away).  Something like a reusable shopping tote is good, or a simple paper bag with that label you use on the water to stamp the bag.

I like a "thank you" inside and a list of ideas of things to do in the area, but I wouldn't go too far out of your way to collect info.  Most hotels have this stuff in their lobby, and a lot of people do research ahead of time to see what's there anyway.  When you're already overwhelmed with planning, don't add too much else to what needs to be done.

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.
