Accountability - Thursday

Good morning ladies, and how was last night! As of last night we have the Total Gym unit at home and ready to rock, has anyone used it? A friend had it and wasn't using it so we figured for free might as well give it a try!

Tonight I am going to do some ab work. I was going to do cardio as well, but my nieces are down from Ottawa and I want to spend time with them tonight and a little less time at the gym, we don't see them all that often. I figure running around chasing them in the backyard can count as my cardio for today :)

Re: Accountability - Thursday

  • I really messed up yesterday with the cake tasting and then my FI brought home pizza and soda. I haven't exercising in 2 days but. I will be back on the bandwagon today.

Yesterday I ended up not having enough energy to go to the gym.  Today, eating solids isn't an issue so I'm hoping to get back into the gym and healthy eating routine slowly. I've mainly been eating bland carbs.

After that whole episode I'm thinking about doing a mainly vegetarian diet... I don't want to cut meats out all together but right now they skeeve me out a bit.  Also, I want to eat more "clean."  I'm praying my energy and stomach hold out so I can test my new running shoes out on the treadmill on a light run tonight on the treadmill!
  • I am down about a pound and a half from last Thursday. I had been stuck at the same weight for my last two weekly weight checks so it was nice to see some progress!

I did a lot of riding and walking with FH yesterday. Did another 12k+ steps and over 5 miles. My Fitbit says I burned about 2900 calories but I worry it overestimates.

No real exercise today since i am going to the venue after work. I have planned my meals accordingly.

  • If you slip up just get back on, we all slip up at one point or another Wink

  • I haven't been to the gym in like two weeks Embarassed

Life has just been so insane with mom's cancer diagnosis & I'm not sleeping well, I have had no energy to exercise. I still live at home with my parents & there are termites in my room. Our condo association sucks & is taking forever to fix the issue. I've been sleeping on the couch for at least 2 weeks & my mom's insane cat wakes me up for at least a total of 1 hour every night.

I need some serious exercise motivation.... and a week's worth of decent sleep.

  • My tummy is a mess... I'm pretty sure it's due to my cycle but it's such a PITA!!
I did my workout this am and it rocked but now I just want put on my yoga pants and curl into a ball. My boobs hurt to the touch and I'm bloated like crazy -ugh.
And of course I want to eat non-stop... being a woman sucks sometimes.

  • I've been doing excellent lately but had something strange happen to me yesterday that really discouraged me. This past week I have felt on the ball with fitness and good eating. I went to weigh myself on yesterday morning as I usually do, really hoping to lose a lb. or two. Well, I only lost .3. Hey, at least I didn't go up, right? I decided to weigh myself later on that day just to double check. It said that I weighed three pounds more than I had that morning?! What in the heck?!?! I am totally confused! Is this even possible?! It put me in a real rut and I have been so stressed ever since. I really want to get this weight off and I am so impatient about it. Something like this is just so weird. Frown
  • Romamor-  A lot can change throughout the day.  If you ate or drank, etc. that could influence the scale by a couple of pounds.  Please don't get discouraged!  It makes me sad when I see people get completely trapped by the scale.  Working out and eating a healthy diet should be about an overall lifestyle change.  I'd say if your clothes are fitting better, you have more energy, etc. then you are doing a great job!  Measure successes by how you feel and look and not the scale.  Trust me, I don't really use a scale anymore.  Feeling healthy overall is a much better sense of achievement for me than a number :)

Your body fluctuates a lot during the day. That is why it is best to find a set time to weigh yourself. Mine fluctuates by day of the week too. I tend to be thinnest on Thursday so that's my weight check day!

As far as losing only .3 pounds you may have just added some muscle. I understand though. Even knowing why I am losing slower than I want or getting stuck at certain weights I can't help but get frustrated.

Edit: and I totally agree with lbarr that the scale is hardly the be all and end all of weight loss. I really need to go get a new tape measurer!

  • Along the lines of clothes fitting better - I seem to be losing weight everywhere but my middle. The band of my bra had to be tightened so I am losing my "back fat," My thighs and calves look more solid and smaller, and even my arms look better. But the belly hasn't changed much.  It's also causing my pants to be baggy in the butt and thigh but tightish in the waist. I have only gone down about 1 pant size after losing over 25 pounds. WTF.

Oh well, at least belly fat is easily tackled with Spanx or something along those lines.

  • Thanks for the encouragement, ladies. I'm terrified I'm not going to lose the weight I want to...I never wanted this to happen but because of terrible things I've gone through, I let myself go and gained 70 lbs in the past few years. It's affecting my self esteem and I want to get back to my old weight so badly.

celticmyss, what kind of pants are you wearing? Are they high waisted? I have that issue with a pair of my high waisted pants but with my below the belly button pants it's not the case.
  • It's mainyl my work pants so yeah they're more high waisted. My jean are lower cut and are falling off me. I weas stuck in the limbo between sizes but I think i can go get a smaller pair of jeans now.

<div>New jeans! That's the best feeling! Even better than regular pants!</div>
  • Last night I did my 100 pushup challenge.  I really struggled with it last night which was kinda discouraging but I pushed myself in my workout on Tuesday so I'm hoping it was just because I was sore.  I may give myself an extra day to do the 3rd day of it for this week (so I'll do it on Saturday instead of Friday).  Probably going to not get to working out today because I have class after work until 7:30pm and then have to pack to visit FI this weekend yaaaay!  I know I'm looking at a rough weekend though.  FI and I have both been eating well and not drinking and he promised me he'd get us pizza and beer when I get in Friday night which sounds like heaven.  Gona have him get the veggie pizza at least.  Also, it's St. Paddys which is kinda "our' holiday we always go crazy for...gona try to stick to vodka and club soda though (no Irish but thats ok).

romamor-  don't stress about the scale.  I can tell you I once gained 8 pound in 8 months which isn't a ton but I was not happy.  I spent two months busting my butt.  I would only weigh myself every 2-3 weeks (anything more than once a week is too much).  Eventually I lost the 8 pounds but I kept working.  I then GAINED all 8 pounds back but my body looked totally different because it was muscle.  I suggest not weighing yourself and instead once a week measuring yourself wherever you want to see it come off.  It is way more accurate of your body's change and not as fickle as a scale.  Now that I am at a weight I am happy with I use a scale to just keep me in check if it's okay to splurge or need to be extra healthy and give myself a 3-5 pound range I'm okay with.
  • I've been doing really well this week!  I did my third C25K Week 3 work out today.  It's getting hot out!

I didn't late night snack at all last night and I went to bed a full hour earlier than normal!  I'm supposed to get dinner with a friend tonight, but I think I might just get an appitizer since she wants to eat at Olive Garden and that can be so high cal and then have dinner at home (it's been in the slow cooker since 11).

I'm crazy excited for my first slow cooker meal.  My mom gave me hers she never uses and I can't wait to see how it turns out!
