Home - YAY!

FI and I just came back from Clearwater, where his brother was married on the beach. We had this idea of a beautiful ceremony with an ocean backdrop, like the kind you see in movies. It was far from it though. There was no rehearsal, no music, no chairs, no flowers (unless you count the preacher that was wearing a hawaiian shirt). There was litter on the ground, fire ants crawling on our feet, and general disorganization. Nothing against destination weddings, as I assume not all are like this. We both agree after sharing this experience, that wedding planning is so much sweeter. FI keeps asking what we can do next. It’s great to finally be home!!

Welcome back!  It's nice that you and your FI are on the same page about wedding planning :)  Was his brother happy with the wedding or did they have something different in mind too?

Welcome back! It definitely sounds like your brother and his wife didn't care much about planning! To each his own I guess.

I love the idea of a beach wedding, but I think they are often hard to plan and a PITA.One of my friends had one on a beautiful day - but it was SOOOO windy.  The people reading had like sand in their eyes.  And there were so many non-guests on the beach gawking and taking pics.  NMS.

FMIL, FFIL, FI and I were the first to arrive. I said that maybe we were in the wrong spot and pointed out the Mountain Dew can and empty grocery bag in the sand and said surely someone would come and clean up the ceremony site first. *Insert foot in mouth after finding out we were in the correct location* It was on a public beach and the guy who performed the ceremony brought a metal arch, that’s about it. I’m honestly not sure how they felt about it all. His brother did say they decided against getting the chairs, because there was an additional fee. They were married, and that’s probably all that mattered to them.   KR – It was indeed windy. The photographer made the bridesmaid walk down twice because her hair was flying around and she couldn’t get a good picture. The FG & RB were running all over the beach during the ceremony. It was funny and a bit awkward at the same time.
