BM gifts with names or monograms

I'm going to order personalized tumblers for my girls from an etsy store. The store puts names, nicknames, or monograms on the tumblers. One of my girls recently got engaged. Another is in a pretty serious relationship that they are starting to discuss marriage. A few others are in long term commited relationships.

I really love monograms and would love to give each girl one with monograms. I don't like the idea of doing a monogram for this girl, a nickname for her, and first name for another. Should I just go ahead and do monograms for everyone?

Also, I have two BMs that won't be able to come to the wedding. Do I still get them gifts?

i got my BM's customized beer coozies but i just put their first initial on them. perhaps you could do that?

1) The only thing I ever suggest avoiding as far as that goes for gifts is YOUR monogram or something that says 'Bridesmaid' because the odds are they will never use it again. Anything personalized to them, go for.

2) Its up to you if you get the ones that can't make it something. Maybe get them something small if you want to get them something?

I just did first names on my personalized stuff, instead of initials, just for this reason.

I would do just the first name or the first initial. I just ordered cosmetic bags for my girls and had just their first initial put on them.

Just curious about this... if they are BMs, yes I would get them a gift, but how are they not able to come to the wedding but still be BM's?

I got the same gift and instead of names I did a "saying" between me and each girl. Like one of my bridesmaids always says SAFE DRIVE when we depart (instead of drive safe) so I put that on her glass... I just found it a touch more personal.

I would do first initials. Not only is it something that it's tacky, but it doesn't look kiddish like having her whole name on something. Sometimes its not a good idea to have your name written out on something for the whole world and all it's creeps to see.

I dated a guy in HS whose mom bought me a bunch of gifts for xmas that all had my first initial on them. The ones I liked I kept, and some stuff I couldn't use, I gave to my mom who has the same initial. Not saying your BM would ditch what you give her but just showing that the first initial can be more practical.

I think using just the first initial is a nice way to personalize it without it being too obvious. I got pashminas monogramed with just the first letter and they are beautiful. You barely notice the letter on the pashmina which is perfect; they know it's there

Agree with PP to use the first initial.  It is subtle yet personal and won't change as they get married!  For the two BMs that can't make it, I'd say if you can afford it to get them something.  The thank you gift is kinda a thank you for standing up with me so if they aren't there I feel like it may not be obligatory.  If they bought dresses and have been really supportive/helpful but something came up where they just can't make it, I'd get them something small at least because life happens.  If you can afford to get them the same thing as the other girls, I'm sure they'd appreciate that too!

Agree with all the PP about first initial... I ended up not getting anything that was personalized but was going to go with first initial because two of mine are engaged.  I'm currently trying to convince a friend to do this because she's thinking of getting someones future initials on a gift but it will be 10 months before the girls wedding!!!  Please don't do that.

I went with first names, I got them customized mirrors from here
But on a tumbler, especially if it's etched I would go with first initial.
