What is your timing for Rehearsal Dinner Invites?

I want to send RD invites to those who are coming from out of town. Should I wait to send out those invites for when I receive rsvps for the wedding? OR should I send out the Rehearsal dinner invites ahead of the actual invitations so those from out of town will know that they can attend? What is everyone else doing??

Re: What is your timing for Rehearsal Dinner Invites?

  • I'll be doing a separate invite but ours is very small/intimate and isn't anything very formal. We are just having a BBQ at FI's mom's place after rehearsal and it's pretty open to whomever wants to pop in (not all guests will be in town at this point).

  • i really haven't decided about this. I was thinking I could send them around the time of the invites, but we also sort of want to make it a more casual thing, and welcome some of our family members that are coming from OOT even if they aren't in the wedding. so it might be weird to send an invite to them because i'm not sure who all is coming until they rsvp. maybe i'll send them out the last week of july, when i should have received most rsvp's by. i don't need an rsvp for the rehearsal dinner, so i guess i don't really care if they have time to respond or not.

  • I still haven't decided on what to do.  Initially we were thinking word of mouth but I might put something in the invitations since my mom will already be designing a little insert for a brunch she is doing for her side the day after the wedding.
  • We are just doing e-vites to the wedding party. It is more of a welcome, meet each other and hang out before the wedding kind of thing, no actual rehearsal. We were thinking about doing this mid afternoon to early evening, then through word of mouth and a little blurb on our wedding website, we were going to open it up to anyone who is already in town to drop by if they want. Once we have all the details sorted out we will go ahead and start spreading the word.
  • Our RD is literally going to be pizza and wings so its just going to be word of mouth. I am just going to give OOT guests a heads up, and that's that,
  • We're doing word of mouth since it's going to be low key and very few people (like immediate family and bridal party with dates).
  • I think I may do word of mouth as well, since we're only expecting around 15-20 people and I don't need them to decide on an entree ahead of time. However, when I originally thought about it I just assumed that I'd send them out Sept 1 (my wedding is the 29th).

My FMIL wants to order our invites soon, so I guess we need to make this decision.  Our RSVP date is a little on the early side (6 weeks out), so we will probably send them AFTER we get the wedding RSVPs.

I am sending mine out about two months before the RD. I may or may not have the RSVP's back yet at that point.

We're doing WOM and Email for RD invites. It's very low key-come have fun-eat some good food-nothing fancy.
