Short DB vent

I live in MD and looked at dresses at DB back in July with my MoH while she was visiting. I found a dress I loved but I didn't want to rush into buying anything. A few months later my mother said how much she wanted to go dress shopping with me so I agreed to wait until I saw her to make a decision.

Over Christmas I visited my mother in Florida and went to a DB there. I tried on a few things but decided to go with the dress I originally liked. Especially once it made my mother cry, just as my MoH had when she saw it!  I planned on buying the dress when I got home from my local store but the saleslady helping us said they could have it shipped directly to my house for free.

I got an email this morning from DB saying that my order was ready to pick up in store. No mention of what store, or a number to call. Awesome. Now I have tom wait until the Florida store opens in 2 hours to call them and find out wtf is going on.

Re: Short DB vent

  • That is obnoxious.  I ordered my dress from them and it came in MONTHS early which I wasn't expecting and I pretty much had to drop everything to get it because they only hold it in store for a week or two.  I guess I could have worse problems, say, the dress never came, etc.

I would get in touch with the store by you because I'm sure they can look it up.  Then once you figure out where the dress is make arrangements to have it sent to you or pick it up.  PIA, I know, but at least it's in tangible form somewhere ;)
  • Really DB won't hold the dress until your wedding date?  The place I purchased my dress is keeping it in a vault until the day off and they are going to iron it or whatever they do to make it look unwrinkled.  I got a bad taste in my mouth when I went to DB and tried on a few dresses, and didn't really find anything I liked and felt forced to leave because they had another appointment 30 minutes after I got there.
  • That's terrible! IMO if a store gives you a time frame and THEY are early, they should be storing it for you. I hope you can get this all sorted - what a PITA!

  • I'm not a fan of Davids Bridal. I didnt get my dress from them and I refuse to get my bridesmaid dresses from them. I have had bad experiences with them in the past.

  • I had awesome experiences with both of the salesladies I dealt with. I assume this issue is with their shipping department and not the stores themselves.

  • Crisis averted! The store actually receives the dress and then they ship it to me. I assumed it would come directly to me from the warehouse or whatever. Yay, that was a unnecessary panic attack!

Btw, here is a pic of my awesome dress. It was prefect for our simple, small wedding. The pic doesn't really do it justice though. (The sash isn't necessarily staying)

  • Yay!  Glad everything worked out :)  I too never had any issues with my DB experience.  They sat with me for a whole 2.5 hours for trying on dresses.  They never rushed me or anything and the floor manager always took the time to help along with the saleswoman I worked with.  They were great for picking out BM dresses too.   I guess it depends on the store!
  • It would be nice if their notification said something like that! Something along the lines of 'arrived in store, will be shipped x date' lol

<div>Ditto. Actually, my local DB has had HORRIBLE reviews, but I went in because my mom insisted. The sales lady I got was perfect. She was nice, helpful, she was there when I needed her, but not up our butts. If I had a question, she had an answer or would find it out promptly. I mean, it was great. =) The only thing is my dress came in about a month early and they only hold your dress for 14 days. I understand that, though. I imagine alot of brides would take advantage if they kept them for longer.</div><div>
</div><div>I'm glad you got all that sorted out! And your dress is so beautiful! I love the bottom =)</div>
  • Ah! That's the sash I think I want! If it came with your dress and you don't want it I'll buy it from you! :)
  • I actually really like the sash with that dress.

I too got my dress from DB, and it came in super early and I had to pick it up within 2 weeks. I had zero problems while I was there, my consultant couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. I agree, I think it really just depends on the store. My MOH went to another DB in our area to get a bridesmaid dress a few years ago, and she said the experience was horrible.
