Edible Favors to go with Wine

So my Aunt is starting to plan my bridal shower and had a question for me that I can't answer, so I thought I'd try you ladies! The shower is happening at a winery (yay!) so she's looking for edible favors that will taste good with wine if people choose to eat them while they're there. I guess I don't drink enough wine to know what to suggest. Any wine experts that can help us out? Thanks!

Re: Edible Favors to go with Wine

  • You want something that isn't super perishable.  The norm to snack to go with wine would be bread, cheese, apples, and grapes.  The only thing that wouldn't go bad right away is bread.  I would suggest to do a "variation" of the norms that is more durable.  Perhaps cheese flavored crackers or pretzels in a cute little bag. And while it's not a snack (in that it isn't filling) so much as a little treat maybe grape candies like jolly ranchers.

I think you can't go wrong with a standard cookies or baked goods but if you wanted to stick to the theme I think above is your best bet.  And the crackers will keep people from having too much!

  • Chocolate! Pairs great with wine and will be easy to take home if they do not want o eat it there.

  • My sister makes these breadtwist things with parmesan and cayenne that are delicious and great with wine. They  are really easy to make and stay good for a long time, she sends them out as Christmas gifts with some other edible items. They're basically like this:  http://kosherinthekitch.wordpress.com/2008/08/15/puff-pastry-cheese-twists/

  • Another vote for chocolate here!  I saw on Platinum Weddings that they did chocolate and wine parings so that is a great favor option in my mind!

  • Thanks for all the suggestions, sound like chocolate would be a great match! Celtic, those sound delicious, I think I'm going to make some for myself even if we don't end up using them, though I really like the idea of having a non-sweet snack in addition to having chocolate!
