September 2012 Weddings

Where are you registering?

I apologize if we have done this recently. I wish the search function on TK wasn't completely useless.

Where is everyone registering? I know that is something a lot of us are working on right now and I am curious where you're going and how the experience has been.

I have a Amazon registry that I love but I want to give some of our relatives the option to shop in store. I also want to be able to go in an touch stuff. Online reviews are great for kitchen gadgets but I need to feel towels before I register for them!

Right now I am torn between BBB, JC Penney and Kohl's. All three have Fiestaware, which I am definitely planning to get. We're doing a small registry so i don't really want to go to more than 2 stores.

I am not planning on doing a Target registry for sure because I know their stock changes regularly.

Re: Where are you registering?

  • We're registered at BBB and Macy's. What we love about Macy's is that they have EVERYTHING and are everywhere! Plus it's a nice thing that our guests can use the 20% off coupons that come in the mail. :) I know I always loved that about BBB registries.
  • I am registered at Macys and Amazon and have been very happy with both.

I have received some engagement gifts from my Macys registry and they have all arrived in perfect condition. Macys also has sales seemingly every day and plenty of coupons. :)

  • Macy's might win out then. There is one by a Trader Joe's and I'd love an excuse to hit both stores this weekend! There are plenty of jewelry stores nearby so i could get sized too. Hmn....

  • We registered at Crate and Barrel last weekend.  It was a really fun experience.  They have the store open on select Sundays for engaged couples.  They have vendors who give out gifts, samples, food, more gifts... overall it was a fun time!

We are also doing Bed Bath and Beyond.  I like the selection they have for bedding, linens, and bathroom related things.
  • We have three that serve somewhat different purposes:

Target: mainly day-to-day type stuff and small kitchen appliances
Macys: nicer, higher end stuff (like Ralph Lauren barware....no china or crystal for us but we wanted some nice stuff)
Sears: outdoor stuff...we call this our "man" registry...FI registered for a grill, tools, motorcycle jack/rack.  Also, have some stuff we want that doesn't need to be expensive like new tupperware.
  • i think we're going to do amazon, macy's and BBB. but we aren't registering for a while so that might change.
    Happily married since 9/1/2012!

  • We're registering at BBB, Belk, and doing a very small online registry on REI.
  • We have already registered at Macys because we have a Macys card and get a % of the cost of gifts that are bought and we are HUGE Macys fans. We are now going to register at BBB due to the fact that a lot of our Macys bedding has been out and they have not added new colors that fit what we want and they have more selections on utencils and things like that. We are very happy with Macys and I think my FI secretly gets really excited when we do that kind of stuff lol.

We registered at Macy's and Amazon. Like PP said Macy's has a good reward program. If you have a Macy's card you get a certain % back on the amount your guests buy off your registry in the form of a gift card. On top of that you get a completion discount. We are excited to combine the gift cards with the completion discount to finish off any incomplete sets of dishes, etc. Amazon is fun because you can add tools, games, yard equipment, etc. Edit: edited to add that Macy's has great sales. Every time we check our registry a good chunk of the stuff is on sale. Since we registered both our china and or casual dishes have had buy one get one sales.
  • We did about 3/4 of our registry at BB&B and about 1/4 at Target.
    Anniversary
  • Right now, just BBB. We were thinking of doing Sears too for tools and stuff but I think we would be ok with it if people did either BBB or just cash.

We tried to talk Tractor Supply to do a registry. Their customer service told us they do not do this but get so many requests for it, they are looking into starting. I was pretty disappointed since that place is like wonderland to us.
  • My FI & I just registered at Crate & Barrel. I recommend signing up for one of their events. It was nice to have free food/drinks (mimosas, juices, coffee, cupcakes, fruits, waffles, Paninis and more). Plus they have experts from different places like Cuisinart and Kitchenaid showing you the products. Even if you start a registry, doesn't mean you have to use it for the wedding. Just don't tell people you registered there or delete it.

I think our list will be: Macys, Target & Crate & Barrel. Gives people the option to purchase where they feel more comfortable.

  • We are registered at BBB and Williams Sonoma. I like BBB b/c they have such a wide selection of items, and people get coupons from them constantly. They also do an event for engaged couples, I don't know if it is an nice as C&B though, you have to look it up under the registry secetion on their website to see if/when they are offering one in your area.

We chose W&S b/c I love their kitchen stuff, and I found that there was a wide range of products there that weren't made in China (their store brand is mostly made in France).

We are thinking about registering at a third place, FI wants to do Home Depot, but I have read awful things about their registry and return policy on consumer reports, so maybe I will suggest Sears- another of his favorite stores.

  • I'm trying to convince FI to go out and register tomorrow.  We both have the day off.  Right now I'm thinking BBB for most of the stuff, and Sears for some other stuff including "man registry" items.  I swear, if it's not dishes we need, it's tools.

    Planning Bio

  • Crate & Barrel, BBB, and Pottery Barn

C&B because FI loves to cook and they have great and affordable cookware, kitchen gadgets/appliances, and "china" (not really formal, but really pretty!)

BBB to fill in some odds and ends: additional cookware/kitchen stuff, cleaning/organizational stuff, etc.

PB for their sheets & linnens and a couple of other accessories.
  • Leaning toward Macy's and Crate & Barrel.. Plus maybe REI for a smal number of things, and/or Amazon. It's kinda weird tho. We truly don't need/want much. Some fiestaware, some luggage, some serving ware, new flatware.
