bridal shower confusion...

So, my bridal shower isn't until  August 19th, but I came home from work to find two packages on my porch... what am I suppose to do?  Do I open them, or not?  I dont see the sense in driving them to the shower with me to open there, then load them back in the car to bring home... but I also wanna make sure I handle this properly... help!!!

Re: bridal shower confusion...

  • We opened gifts that arrived prior to the shower.  We made sure to thank the gift givers personally and publicly at the shower, and of course a thank you note.  Not sure if that is right or not, but its what we did!
  • I brought mine with me to the shower... I don't know if it was appropriate but it seemed right. Plus, some of the people that sent gifts had other family at the shower who I assumed wanted to see what they gave.

  • I didn't bring them to the shower, and it was slightly awkward as they felt they needed to point out to the crowd that they HAD given a gift, they just mailed it.  So I'd say bring it, or say a very public "thank you" while you're opening other gifts.

  • Thank you ladies! This was very helpful!
  • I'm bringing mine to the shower if it's an actual gift.  If it's money I will handle it before the shower.

Are you absolutely sure they're shower gifts and not wedding gifts??  We received some wedding gifts before invitations even went out.  We're opening everything as it comes to ensure it arrived safely and to go ahead and send a thank you note so they will know we received the gift, which I believe is the proper etiquette.

I never even thought of that.  I just assumed shower gift because my MOH just sent out the bridal shower invites last week and now all of a sudden I am getting gifts lol.  I will definitely be opening them and sending Thank You cards asap.  I dont want anyone thinking I am being a jerk or that I never received the gift.

    Thanks
  • my mom said to send the thank you cards after the shower, even though you already got the gifts because there for the shower. I was confused about that too. I just have the boxes in my house. Untouched--i can't really bring them to the shower because I'll be driving 12 hours for my shower, so I thinks thats why they are shipping them to me. Less things to transport
