Introduction!

Hello Everyone! My name is Kim and I have been lurking around for a lil and have decided to post. My FI and I got engaged May 10th and are planning our wedding for July 2, 2010. Since we are both Pitt alum, we are having the ceremony at Heinz chapel and the reception at the Aquarium at the Zoo. So far we have those two venues booked, a photographer and DJ booked and I've found my dress! Our colors are going to be Navy, a light green (think orchid colors), and some accents of orange! We currently live in the Baltimore area so we are planning from afar. I am sure I will be asking for advice because of this! I've already checked out the vendor list and it looks great and very helpful! Nice to "meet" all of you!

Hello and congrats! When did you book Heinz chapel? Like, how are in advance. I know lots of people who have gotten married there and said they basically picked their wedding date based on when the chapel was available. I work at Pitt so I'm just curious :) Good luck and congrats, again!

Thanks for all the welcoming messages! Here is the link to my dress: http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?keywordText=roni&keywordType=any&page=0&pageSize=12&style=J1226 Not sure how to make it clicky :-/ That's so funny about Bel Air b/c that's where we are living right now! My photographers are from the central PA area b/c thats where I'm from. They are the Wiebners and they are amazing! The DJ FI took care of so I'm not exactly sure of the company's name - Lethal DJ I think!

Yay for BelAir! He grew up in the Bright Oaks community. I actually love Maryland. Here's a pic of your dress:

Welcome & Congrats! I'm planning from away as well (Massachusetts)--it's not easy, but if you're organized, you'll be fine. Gorgeous dress--absolutely stunning. And the color scheme sound very cool.

dvansky - Heinz chapel was a bit of a PIA! We orginially wanted a beginning of August wedding. So the way they book is since we wanted August 2010, we had to call the first business day of August 2009. This happened to be August 3rd. We had like 13 people calling for us. It was seriously like calling for concert tickets. The phones opened up at 8:30 and were busy for about an hour. Once someone got through the only time slot they had left for either of the August dates that would work with our reception venue was 10:30am. This wouldn't work b/c we couldn't get into the Zoo until 7pm. So that's how we settled on July 2, 2010 (a Friday) b/c it was a date that would work for both sites! A bit crazy but all solved now! npales - Thanks for posting the pic! I really like Maryland too! I think I would like to be closer to Baltimore though - I'm more of a city girl!

Welcome Kim,I'm actually planning my Pittsburgh wedding from Gaithersburg, MD about 40 mins from Baltimore so I feel your stress - though you're ahead of me. I got my dress, booked the church and the reception venue but don't have a photographer or dj yet. That's the next thing I need to work on.Congrats on your engagement and happy planning :)

Hi Kim, congrats and welcome. I am a HC bride as well and it is a bit of PITA (2 hours to finally get through), we wanted 2:30 and they only had the 10:30 and 12:30 available. We took the 12:30 and now I couldn't be happier with our time. More time to spend in my dress, be with my family and friends and take lots of pictures, and of course be married earlier!! I'm glad that your time worked out for you. Your dress is very lovely!

Hi and welcome, Kim! I loove your dress. :) I've only been to Baltimore once... My DH ran the marathon there a few years ago, but I loved what I saw of it. We're here to help from your wedding's 'home base' whenever you need.
