Sending Invites - Sept. 1 Brides

Hello :) When are you sending out your invites? I was thinking of having mine go out June 1. My STDs were sent out Feb. 1. When should my RSVP deadline be?

TIA!

I'm a September 29 bride, but everything would just be 4 weeks earlier for you.  We are sending out our invites August 1 and RSVP due September 1.  I've heard 6-8 weeks for invites but I want RSVPs due 4 weeks before the wedding and I just don't see people getting back to me in 2weeks if I send them out 6 weeks before.  The RSVP should be dependent on your headcount due dates (for your caterer and baker for sure and if you are having floral centerpieces you may have one as well).  Our caterer/venue needs the count only 3 days before but our baker needs it 2 weeks before.  My FMIL warned to expect a lot of people who don't RSVP on time so I gave myself 2 weeks to track down people who didn't RSVP.  Not doing floral centerpieces so doesn't apply to me.

Find your earliest headcount deadline, add 1-2 weeks for tracking people down for your RSVP date and I'd add 3-4 weeks from there for sending out invites.
  • i'm getting married on september 1st, and i am planning on sending our invites out the last week of june, so that people will have them by july 1st. our rsvp date will be august 1st.

if you have a lot of out of town guests/people who might not get back to you on time, you might want to send them out earlier, but that's up to you.
    Happily married since 9/1/2012!

  • Late June/Early July for me.

    Love is the ultimate superpower.
It can make you weak and strong simultaneously.

  • Thank you all for the insight. My baker requires total counts 3 weeks before, which would be mid-August. I think I will send the invites early/mid-June just to make sure and since it's a holiday weekend.

    Thanks again!
  • Our hotel block closes out on August 3rd, so we want to give guests plenty of time to book since they will probably go fast anyway being a holiday weekend. We are going to send ours out around June 15th. Any sooner is a little pretentious (according to the etiquette board on here lol) but as a guest I wouldn't really care when I got it.

The only thing I have read that may be helpful advice is that if you send them out so early, you are setting yourself up for a large non-response rate as people will think they have tons of time to send your RSVP but then forget. And then you have to track them all down when they don't send it back. Just a thought.

Our RSVP deadline will be August 15th for our September 1st wedding as our venue doesn't require a final number until a week ahead of time - that's important, contact and ask when your vendors will need a final headcount and work from there.

  • i'm a sep 8 bride, but we're doing what volley said.

    invites out = 8 weeks
    rsvp due = 4 weeks
cake and caterer count due = 3 weeks
  • I'm a Sept 15 bride and we are sending ours out 10 weeks in advance. We know it's 8 weeks but we have a lot of college age friends coming so we know there will be some straglers. This way we give them a little extra time before we have to start calling.
  • I am Sept 1 bride and I am sending out invitations the end of June and my rsvp is August 4th.
