Hair trial woes

Hi ladies! I've been in Michigan the last few days and was able to get some wedding planning done. I met the officiant who was very personable ... I think he'll be great. I did my hair/make up trial and this is what happened:

I brought in a few pictures of a low bun type updo... I have hair that is maybe 6 inches past my shoulders. The girl doing my hair really stuggled with trying to get it to stay. After tryling 3-4 times she couldn't do it and told me that she would practice at home (This was at a salon). 

What would you do? This makes me nervous because if she can't get it to stay 5 minutes, it doesn't give me confidence that I can get it to stay for 9+ hours.

Agreed with mck. Try to get any deposit money back, and find someone else. To be honest, I feel like she should've told you that she couldn't do it, and should've recommended someone else.

Haven't seen your pics obv but from your description it doesn't sound like something that would be very complicated. I'd start looking around for someone else ASAP

I have gotten alot of updos and never had anyone not be able to do it and my hair is very difficult it has to be curled and hates staying that way so they have to use heat spray before curling it and hair spray it after it is done so my suggestion would be like everyone else look for someone else-where in MI are you getting it married I can ask my freinds who live all over Michigan and see if they have any reccommendations for someone to do hair

Find someone else!  You don't need that stress on the wedding day.  Hop on one of the MI boards for your area and ask around for recs.

I hated my hair trial and I was super disappointed.  My best advice is to find a photo of exactly what you like.  Don't leave any room for inteperation.  If she can't deliver, find someone else

I would look for someone else personally. Where in MI are you? I am just over the border and half my friends are in MI, I can definitely ask for recommendations for you!

I would definitely try to find someone else! How did you find this person? I would also ask for my money back for the trial. What you are asking isn't a lot. A bun isn't a difficult thing to do! My hair trial made me so nervous because I have fine thin hair and can't do much with it at all. My stylist WOWed me. Just because your hair is long, doesn't make it impossible to put into a low chignon bun!!

<div>This is me.  Now that it is growing out it's starting to hold in different hairstyles but I'm terrified for my trial... and I have to wait until August for hair and makeup!  I will be bringing pics of EXACTLY what I want though so I'm hoping it will all turn out ok.</div><div>

As PP said, find someone else.  Doesn't sound like you are asking for something insane.  Any half-skilled stylist should be able to figure out a low bun.  Not worth the trouble of waiting for her to "practice"

<div>Mainly because my salon doesn't like to do them really far out.  They like it just around a month out so everything is fresh in the stylists mind... they will take pics etc.  Also, makeup I could do now but she said she would just come to my hair trial if I wanted.  I'd rather just get it all done in one day and only have to take one day off from work.  </div><div>
</div><div>My hair is super simple, low and curled pony so if they mess that up they certainly have issues ;)  The makeup artist is pretty well known in the area and all of her work comes out amazeballs.  Worst case scenario, I could probably do my day of look totally on my own since it's simple enough but would rather have a pro do it so I'm not stressed.  </div><div>

I think I am going to ask the salon if I can book someone else... I could do another hair trial with the same girl the week of the wedding but that makes me nervous too!!

I'm confused as to why she would have to practice anything! I would assume that most stylists know how to do just about anything. And a low bun shouldn't be that hard. I'm assuming you don't live close enough for another trial?
