Favors

So I am having a candy buffet, but I also wanted to do favors.  I can't figure out what I want to do though, I am trying to think of something that just wouldn't be thrown away after.  At first I thought maybe wine corkers but then I decided not everyone drinks wine.  Then I thought about rice crispy treats dipped in chocolate, but would that be too much candy then, I also thought about cake pops but I tried to make them and I couldn't get the chocolate to melt smoothly.  What is everyone else doing?

Re: Favors

  • We are having a photo booth, so we got picture frames for everyone to put their picture in.  Plus, I am printing our programs and menus on seeded paper, so they can take those home to plant flowers. :)

  • Our wedding as sort of started to have an apple motif. The bridesmaids are in apple green, and we are using apples as part of our centerpieces. So, I figured I'd carry it through!

My FMIL made jars of apple butter last fall for half of the guests. For the other half, I will be ordering caramel apples! I had the original idea of caramel apples, but I just couldn't picture my grandmother eating one haha. So, I decided to split it up!

  • We are getting married on a cruise ship, so we had luggage tags made from a lady on Etsy. :)

  • we're doing a photobooth. i wanted to do frames but i just don't think we'll be able to find ones cheap enough.

honestly, i think a candy buffet is plenty of a favor. provide bags so that people can bring some home (and make sure you have enough!)

when i was in my MOH's wedding, she had a candy buffet, but it was gone in like 10 minutes.
    Happily married since 9/1/2012!

    I found nice 4 x 6 frames at the dollar tree.  :)

We are doing mini bottles of maple syrup. FI's family runs a sugar bush so it's a perfect treat for our guests :)

If you want to stick with the candy theme, I found these adorable little candy containers that have a little scoop at Michaels (dollar bins). I bought some for Valentine's day but they could be used for weddings. It's such a cute candy holder.

  • I guess you could consider their mason jar drinking glasses their favor because they can take them if they want.  I would rather spend that couple hundred dollars on better food or more time with the band than on some trinket that will be thrown away.  That's where the memories are.

We're having a dessert table, so I see no point in a candy buffet.  I'm 100% FOR the edible favor.

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.
  • We're having a New Orleans Second Line (kind of like a mini parade) at the wedding and it's tradition for everyone in the Second Line to have a "hankie." We'll be getting our monogram and the date put on the hankie and that, along with beads from our first Mardi Gras, will be our favors.

I think finding cute containers for the candy buffet is a good idea. They can tea the candy and then have the container as the favor that doesn't get eaten if that's what you want to make sure they have.

  • I was going to say just what jparli suggested, find some kind of inexpensive, reusable container for the candy buffet and that should be enough. A lot of people just send their guests home with the candy and a plastic bag, so I think if you want something extra it would compliment it nicely and not leave your guests with too much too carry home.

Plus, I am printing our programs and menus on seeded paper, so they can take those home to plant flowers. :)  agladhill- that is adorable! Our guest book is the "thumbprint" tree (actually a leaf stamp) and I was thinking of making the escort cards out of die cut leaves I found on etsy. Where did you get the paper, if you don't mind me maybe stealing the idea, I think it would fit in perfectly.

Oh yeah, our favors are S'Mores packets and we will have a fire outside the pavilion in one of the fire pits after dinner (not to use them, but it goes with the outdoor theme)
    Sorry this was so long
  • Junebug, I love s'mores. Can I come to your wedding?! Wink

We're still undecided about favors but they'll definitely be edible. Since we're going to Belgium for our honeymoon I was considering a small box of Belgian chocolates. The best price I have found so far is $4 per box but they come in lots of 20 or 40. This doesn't work too well since we're having 25 people.

No worries!  Go for it!  I'm big into being green and sustainable, so the more people that recycle the better, IMO.  :)  I got it from the Save-on-crafts website.  http://www.save-on-crafts.com/halosecopa25.html  I got a ton of stuff from this website.  It was definitely the most affordable place I could find after hours of searching.

Also, I LOVE the smores idea!!!  Wish we could do that too!

  • Wow that was a lot of responses lol!  Took me awhile to read through all of them!  I like the flower seed idea too but I am getting married September 1st in Wisconsin so it might be a little too late to plant flowers :)  I also like the unique candy dish idea!  I might just end up doing the candy buffett only, I just don't want to send people home with junk :)
  • I love the candy buffet idea!  But we're going with wedding koozies as our favor.  We thought they are practical and something that all of our guests would be able to use again.  We ordered ours through http://www.totallyweddingkoozies.com and love how they turned out!
