Accountability - Wednesday

So I had a LONG talk with FI last night about my fitness goals. I know he's still 'working into it' (he's never been much of a gym person) but he knows I have big goals on getting back to the shape I used to be in.

Starting next week (we have baby birds that came in yesterday, so up during the night checking on them, didn't want to take away from sleep too much for the first few days until they can be left for the night) we are going to be getting up for a gym work out in the morning, and then a home workout out in the evening each day. We are going to plan them based on what we know we can stick to, so mine can be a lot more intensive than his in the beginning if that means he'll stick to it and work up from there :)

How's the week going for you ladies? Who has set a plan and is sticking to it? Tell us about your plan!

Re: Accountability - Wednesday

  • I finally dragged my butt back into the gym last night. I had been skipping it in favor of being outside but it was overcast and humid yesterday. It was good to do some weights again.

I am planning on working with one of the trainers once or twice to get myself on track. I am just waiting for the guy I want to work with to be behind the desk. It's kind of pricey but I am considering it a wedding expense.

I think I am down 2 more pounds but my weight isn't "official" until tomorrow.

  • Last night I did some light weight training and abs.  Tonight I will hopefully go running and do another day of the ab challenge.  My main goal is to just overall eat healthier and to try and get to the gym most weekdays.  Since Saturday I've been managing pretty well :)
  • I did 25 minutes cardio and 20 minute weights last night, it felt good to be back at the gym and getting into the groove of things.  I kept pushing it off saying the wedding is X months away I still have time.  But I figured it is time to crack down and my mom had made an appoinment for family pictures in April so that is another motivator!

  • I'm having such a hard time managing life & getting to the gym. I planned on going yesterday, but had to skip in favor of eating dinner before our first meeting with a prospective DJ (I get extra super cranky & irritable when I'm hungry). Today I can't go because of a meeting with a prospective DJ at 6.

I haven't been to the gym in almost 3 weeks. I've gone for a walk, and done some house cleaning, but it's not the kind of work outs I want. I want to tone my core & arms more than anything. Walking & house cleaning won't get me the results I want.... and I can't afford training sessions.

At least I'm still eating somewhat healthy Embarassed

<div>Eating healthy is actually more important than working out for staying healthy/dieting.  For toning purposes I can understand how "just eating healthy" doesn't seem like enough.  I'd recommend going and purchasing a set of weights so you can have them at home.  It's a lot easier to do a quick 20 minute arm routine when you have something readily available vs. driving to the gym!</div>
  • I did JM workout yesterday.  I'm feeling it today so haven't quite decided what I'm going to do tonight....though it is pushup challenge day so definitely that will be part of it.

I'm having trouble motivating myself to run.  I HATE running.  Absolutely hate it.  Last month I got myself to run a few times and I felt good after but the thought of running just makes me want to hide.  I have some spin sessions I want to use but I kind of want to drag them out because they are expensive.  And, my favorite instructor only teaches Saturday morning and with visiting FI I haven't been in town on Saturdays.  I need to fit in more cardio somewhere though.  Just struggling to find something I like to do without FI around....we normally play tennis or walk together or play Kinnect Sport (this is a workout I swear).

</div><div>Not everyone is a runner but thre's a lot of other great cardio (spinning, swimming,zumba-like classes, hiking, walking, playing sports).  Try and do whatever you can that you like, that will you will be more motivated to stick with it.  Can you do Kinnect Sport as a single player?  Also, check your town's Parks and Rec site or building... they might have "adult" tennis where people meet up and rally for a bit.  It might take some looking into but I bet you will find something you enjoy :)

  • I completely hate running. Even in high school and running every day I hated it. FI bought me a new Trek last night and I rode it about 6.5 miles today. It's a great cardio and its great on my bad knees. I knew I didn't have the money for a gym and when it's nice I want to be outside so videos weren't what I wanted for the summer. I'm veryy hapy with the bike, but my butt is killing me. I think I'll be getting one of those big comfy seats lol.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I do love spinning it just gets expensive because I like to take it at this really intense studio where you have to pay per class.  I'm really picky unfortunately about my workouts because I only have one intensity level...high.  I have quit a lot of programs that were just not strenuous or competitive enough.  And, I'm the opposite of everyone here because I'm in south Florida so the end of winter=the end of nice weather for us...it just gets miserably hot and humid from here.  Think I'm just going to have to start penny pinching so I can pay for spin classes.
  • Yeah or ... this is cray cray... buy a spin bike if you love it :)  I think in the long run it'd be cheaper then spending money for memberships and classes.  I'm sure there are DVDs out there for things to do, etc.

FI and I talked about us each getting one with any weddin gmoney we get (not in the budget now).  That convo started because I told him we weren't having a baby until we have a cardio machine in the house because then I can jump on it even for 10 min at a time to lose baby weight (I have a really weird complex about baby weight...part of why I'm not ready for kids...I'm loving my body right now haha).  That got us talking about how it would just make sense for us to get one  (or two so we can do it together) sooner so we can save on spin classes.  So just gotta suck up the money on classes until September hopefully!
  • I did an hour of Zumba Monday & Tuesday, but I had been EXHAUSTED the whole day Tuesday so I didn't do the toning exercises I wanted to do at home after class. I have attended Zumba consistently for the past 11 weeks, so I'm happy about that.

My plan is to continue Zumba with my favorite instructor and join the gym again so I can get back into Spinning and their free weight group training classes. I also enjoyed Yoga & Pilates. Weight Watchers seems to be working when it comes to tracking what I'm putting in my mouth, and I've lost a bit. My goal is to tone my arms, that is what everyone will see when I'm in my wedding dress! and slim down/tone my hips and thighs.
