Good Afternoon Ladies!

How is everyone's day going? I am just finishing up my lunch, and then back to work... today's a pretty slow day though, which is a nice change!

Re: Good Afternoon Ladies!

  • I'm home sick today :( Yesterday afternoon I couldn't stop sneezing! I thought it was allergies but I have a bit of a fever...so hopefully it goes away quickly!

  • i'm excited because i'm taking tomorrow off so today is my friday! we are having some guys come over to look at our stove/range because it's been acting goofy and it's under the home warranty so we figured we out to put that to use. it's possible that they won't be able to fix it or find the right parts since it's the original (hello, this is the 1950's calling, they want their stove back). soo yeah it'd be awesome to have something brand new. i also have plans to do a ton of cleaning and housework tomorrow.

  • Afternoon! Recopperating from these darn wisdom teeth and I think the percocet is making me sick. Working on wedding stuff and messing around with my planning site. Maybe go watch a movie.
  • I need to get motivation to work on some wedding stuff, totally slacking as of late! I feel like with each day that I avoid it, I'm getting another step behind lol

It is super slow at work and making the day drag.  Wishing it were Friday!
  • What's everyone planning on working on wedding wise next? Maybe if I get talking about it, it will motivate me to do SOMETHING tonight when I'm home doing housework lol
  • My #1 project that I HAVE to do this weekend is our chair back signs.  I don't even have to finish them actually.  I just have to get the base paint on the wood.  I'm using a "crackle" spray paint finish.  My mom has some leftover from an old project and I needed to buy more in case it wasn't enough.  And, the closest place I could find it from my house was at Hobby Lobby (closest HL is 2 hours away).  There's a HL near where FI is now and I got more paint last weekend.  Buuuut if I end up not needing it I'd love to return it next weekend when I visit him again.

I'd obviously like to finish them but my weekends keep getting hijacked by other stuff so I've been making smaller goals for myself so I don't end up disappointed.

What's next on your checklist Britt?

Well, I have to have a total of 300 red ribbon roses, and I'm currently at 6, so I think getting some of those out of the way should be high on the list.

I'd also like to tackle the last 4 corsages so that I could honestly say that all my floral stuff is completed and packed away :)
  • Slowish day at work today.  I'm just running the first half of an experiment and doing some organizatinal stuff... woo!

I wish I could get motivated to do wedding stuff but we pretty much have everything done until I have to put the invitations together.  Plus, in general, I'm a huge procrastinator.  I guarantee I will be putting together all of the little details  (jewelry, etc.) a month before.  I just can't get motivated for something 6 months away!

lbarr - When I hear that it makes me second guess wanting to DIY so much hahaha or else I'd have nothing to do right now either :P
  • Britt I'm the same way.  I'd have nothing to do if I didn't have DIY projects.  Wow not to freak you but those ribbon roses sound daunting.  Power to you!  I'd tackle the corsages first because 4 of those vs. 294 ribbon roses will be quicker.  When I need a little motivation I like to go for the quick checks to feel like I'm accomplishing things and it is worth the time.  Personal preference though

I think I remember you posting them a long time ago (or maybe those were your other flowers) but do you have a ribbon rose pic you can repost?  I'd love to see.

Ya, they are pretty daunting which is probably why I haven't done any since the first night... although if I keep leaving them its only going to get more daunting lol

    Here they are:

  • Wow those are beautiful!  Are they hard to make?  I'm pretty crafty I just don't know if I should be taking on another project haha.  WOuld you mind sharing the directions to them?  Also, how big are they?  They look pretty big in the pic but not sure if you maybe just zoomed in.
  • They aren't as big as they look, those ones are a little smaller than the palm of my hand. There is a youtube tutorial that I used in my planning bio, just look under DIY projects, the roses are listed under Centrepieces and Decorations
  • Pretty blah at work today actually... i should never say that because that's when a pandemic will hit I'm sure!

I have my son's skating lessons tonight and thank god tomorrow is Friday. Tuesday night classes are killing me and the rest of my week! At least my son goes to my parents' place for his March Break so I am kid-free for a whole week! Can you say PROJECTS?!? lol
It's so true that if it weren't for DIY projects, I'd be twiddling my thumbs! I actually need to stop adding to my list! This weekend I want to tackle the men's shirts for the ladies because I got my transfers in the mail this week. I would like to work on my cootie catchers and create more versions for guests. I would also like to  get more of my invitation pockets completed. I have to wait for my supplies to come in before attempting my pomanders but I'm really excited to start those!

ok thanks!  I'm thinking a few on each table could add some pop to my centerpieces since I am not doing floral centerpieces.

I'm sure that would look good as the 'finishing touch' to your centrepieces :)
  • I went to my venue and put another 1,00 down... still have alot more to put down. Then my FI and I went ring shopping and got him a band. Then i set up a cake tasting and called someone to have a bagpip at our ceremony. This has been a busy afternoon

  • Sounds like a busy afternoon, but busy getting things done is a good busy :)
  • i'm going to pick out table linens and things like that this weekend! i think i also need to plan out what i need to rent, in terms of uplighting and backdrops. i don't have any DIY projects planned, but i have a BUNCH i plan to do in april when Dan is gone for work.
