Thanks for that Celtic!  I have one in a couple weeks.  The whole shower thing just wreaks of awkwardness to me.  I'm like that at any point where I'm more of the "center of attention." Sooo, this wedding should be fun.....

You and me both. I'm actually greatful for not having a shower for just that reason. I'd hate to have people watch me open gifts. I dodn't even like it at Christmas when everyone is doing it.

That's completely me.  Honestly the way everything is going I'm pretty sure everyone involved wishes they went with my original request of "no showers or parties"

Pretty good stuff, OP. I'm pretty nervous for my shower, but I try to think of it this way: I love going to other people's showers, so why should this be different. When I go to a shower I want to give a gift. Everyone in my family is pretty headstrong so if they didn't/don't want to give a gift, then they won't. I feel like I'll go in with "fake it til you make it" and then my goofy family anf friends (mostly the friends) will end up making me feel more comfortable.
