Accountability - Tuesday

Hey ladies, how was yesterday for you? I took yesterday off, and was going to hit the gym today however Aunt Flo has come to visit with a vengeance.... spent last night cuddling a heating pad. I've had problems ever since the surgeries down there :( Any advice besides heating pads and painkillers?

Might try to hit the gym tonight, but I think C25K won't be progressing this week at this rate.... maybe I can try to push through it? We'll see....

Anyone hitting any new goals? Good news to report?

  • I tried to bike last night at the gym and got incredibly bored and my foot started hurting.  It's funny how hard I think the spin bikes are.  I've dedided to take the necessary time off from cardio until my foot heals.  I have 2 races in the next two months so I need to "baby" myself as much as possible so I can get back into things.  Icing and massages have become my friend, as well as ibuprofen :)

    Luckily, I was good with MFP yesterday and eating is most important right?  I went slightly over my calories because of ginger ale.  That is a reminder of why I always just drink water and that you really CAN drink your calories.  

    Tonight I'm taking off from the gym and maybe tomorrow I will do some light weights and abs and I'm praying by Thursday my foot has healed enough where I can do a light run.
  • My office LOVED the spin class yesterday! It was such a hoot! My boss wore a bright pink sun hat and even gave me props during the class - it was so cute!
    Everyone had a lot of fun and I had a killer workout; the extra motivation to perfrom amped my workout.

    I was bad last night tho... I ate some of my homemade oatmeal banana choc chip cookies and I'm paying for it today. After cutting the gluten the past few days, I am really feeling this indulgence. They were delicious tho!! haha

  • Went to pilates class yesterday.  Totally forgot about my 100 pushup challenge until after I showered so going to do that tonight.  One of my BM is home from law school so grabbing dinner with her tonight and pushups will probably all I have time for.  But, she's a healthy eater so at least I'll feel pressured to eat well!

    Britt, what is the heating pad for?  Cramps?  Your back?  As uncomfortable as it sounds, ice imay actually be better than a heating pad.  You'd ice a swollen ankle to reduce inflammation right?  It is the same concept.  Cramps or back pain during a period are caused muscle contractions or increased blood flow in the area so ice reduces the inflammation of it and draws the blood away to your extremeties.  Everyone is different, but worth a shot!  I also find that cardio can help my period symptoms but I have fairly moderate symptoms since I'm on birth control so if yours are unbearable, probably would be overexertion for you so don't go crazy!
  • I finally started training for my half marathon yesterday!  I ran a 5K in the beginning of February and have had excruciating shin splints/stress fractures since then.  I am all healed and pain free now, so I got my three miles in last night :)  Yay!

    So exciting, because this was the last week I could have started my 12-week program and actually be able to finish it before the race in May.  Woohoo!

    Today I'll either be cross-training or doing yoga.  I haven't decided yet.  I have to re-work the schedule around because Fi & I go to the gym on M/W/F and this program has me resting on Fridays, so I just need to re-organize it.

    Eating well of course, too.  Had a half a cantaloupe for breakfast this morning and oy vey was it delicious!  They are absolutely in season- I LOVE when they are this sweet!

  • i did some quick intervals and then weights for lower back and shoulders. tonight i'm hoping to do some more shoulders as last night was more focused on back. and of course cardio of some sort.

    Happily married since 9/1/2012!

  • Its mainly cramping, because my surgeries from my ovary caused a lot of scar tissue build up when they screwed up the first one/the infection, etc and its just a big mess there.... I will def try the ice thing though, anything is worth a shot!

    Thats so frustrating :-(  I'm sorry!  Let me know how the ice works.  It should help constrict the tissue so there's less pressure.  I'll keep my fingers crossed this brings you some relief.
  • I'm almost to the 10 pound mark.  About 30 more to go before I'm happy.  40 more to go before I'll be running around naked.  (just kidding)
  • hahaha DirtyWater! I always say that if I had those Victoria Secret model's bodies I'd be running around in my underwear all the time too!  :)

    I fell off the workout wagon this weekend but I got back to work this morning. I'm doing the 5 Factor workout DVD's (the program by Harley P. from that show the Revolution) and it is killing me. I was always a runner but apparently I've skimped wayyyy too much on strength training and I'm paying for it now. Three sets of 25 lunges? Eeekkk I'm going to be sore tomorrow.
