Creative Save the Date ideas

My FI and I are getting marreid on September 1st and want to send out Save the Dates here soon. It's an outdoor, backyard, rustic wedding. We want something really different and creative for the save the dates. What did you do for Save the dates or what are some fun ideas?

If you have a Pinterest account, there are SO many cute Save the Date ideas on there! I'd start there, or look on www.ruffledblog.com - they have a lot of rustic wedding inspiraton, so you might find some save the dates there.

We used our engagement pictures as STD's and had our photographer print something up, but there's a lot you can do.

You can take an element of your wedding and make it a focal point for your STDs

I'm obsessed with our ceremony site, the church is so beautiful so I enlisted the help of my FBIL who dabbles in photography to take a professional looking photo of the top of the church.

Then since I'm handy with photoshop, I added a lil drama to the colors and sun and added the STD text.

In the end it looks like a postcard and I got them printed at Walmart for cheap - everyone LOVES them!  I added a different border on the machine at Walmart but this is what they looked like:


We're going to do something similar with the thank you cards

Mine is a theme wedding (also Sept 1st!), so we made the STD cards tie directly to the theme. Plus they're fun and quirky and fit our personalities...

Since half our guest list is coming from out of state, we bought a bunch of postcards of the region and just hand wrote on the back. It was cheap and showed people in New Hampshire a glace into Wine Country in California!
