Design for outter envelope?

First and foremost, we're on a budget wedding.  We ordered our invitations through Vistaprint.  They look nice, but not super fancy.  The envelopes are large/white rectangles.  After putting the addresses on the envelopes, they just look really plain and boring.  Does anyone have ideas of how to decorate the outside of the envelope to make it look a little more elegant?  I already have monogram stickers to seal the back flap of the envelope, but theyre not colorful either.  I had to use red "love" stamps because those were the only weddingish related stamps my post office had.  Thanks!

Can you run them through your printer at home and print some sort of detail/graphic on them?  My only concern with doing this would be making sure the outside detail matches or coordinates with the invitation.  If you got extra envelopes, try it out on one of those and see what you think.

Mine are just going to be plain on the outside.
  • You could do some kind of flourish along the bottom, or on one side. Just find a graphic, set your printer settings to the size of the envelope, feed the printer with the envelope flap open, and the envelope going bottom first into the printer (if you don't have a top loading printer, this will be pretty hard to do. Bottom loading printers will rip or bend the flap). Cut some paper to size and practice first, but you should be able to get it done pretty easily :)
  • Buy a stamp and use matching color ink!
