Best pen to use to address invitations

What pen would be best to address wedding invitations?

I am not doing calligraphy for the invitations, my bridesmaids are just going to come over and assist me in addressing the invitations.  Each girl is assigned a batch for a specific number of people this way the outer and inner envelopes will match.

Please let me know of some good pens that I can get at Walmart or Office Depot.  I do not want to spend a lot on the pens... I just do not want bleeding on the envelopes.

Thank you!

  • I just used a gel pen and that worked well.

As a guest, I have NEVER noticed anything more than whether it was typed or handwritten.  I surely was not looking for ink bleeding or how smooth the pen wrote.

I think you are putting too much thought into this!  Relax!

  • I would look at the craft store.  There are pens there with a really nice fine tip on them, and you can get ink of any color.

  • I used the new Sharpie pens.  They are permanent like Sharpies, but very fine. They don't bleed through or smear, and have a very nice strong ink.  I absolutely love them and I'm using them for all my thank you notes as well.  You can find them at any office supply store. All the people helping with my invites remarked how much they liked the pens, so you might make a little present out of it too.
  • The Sharpie pens are nice. I bought a metallic calligraphy pen from Michael's. I'm jus writing in my regular cursive but it looks fancier with the calligraphy pen. Try them in the store if you can, since I bought another first that looks like 2nd grader handwriting.
