Ceremony Programs

Hi All,
Just wondering about your thoughts & opinions regarding ceremony programs. Are they really necessary? My fiance and I were thinking about taking a few minutes to introduce our wedding party in the first part of our ceremony to really involve everyone. Any suggestions or ideas to avoid the waste of ceremony programs?

    We are doing programs only because not all guests will be familiar with some of the traditions/customs in the ceremony.  If it wasn't for that, I'd have skipped them. As for introducing the bridesmaids & groomsmen, that is usually done when you enter the reception.
