Brother's name on invitation?!

My parents want to put my brother's name on the invitation but my fiance and I would prefer that his name not be included. We feel that it actually makes the invitation less formal. I would understand it if my brother was younger or married but he is neither.

We come from a Eastern culture and I have seen family members names on other invitations as " Best Wishes from...." 

We just don't like how it looks but my parents insist that since my brother is a member of the family that his name be printed. I suggested to have his name in the wedding program only but that was not "acceptable." I'm ready to throw my hands up with the invitation.

Any suggestions would greatly help!

I've never seen anything like this.  If it's an eastern tradition, is there a place you could post this on the cultural boards?

Yeah I'm not sure how you would word that and usually the names on the invitations are the people hosting the function (aka those paying for it..)  If he is included in your wedding party and on the program that is appropriate.  I'm sorry your family doesn't understand.  How does the brother feel???

I've also never heard of including anyone's names on the invites besides the Bride and Groom and whomever is hosting(paying).

Would your parents allow and would you be okay with:

Together with their families

Your Name
and
FI's name

invite you...

Mark me down as somebody else who's never heard of this (Thankfully ... I have 4 siblings with 2 different last names!).

I'd say go with  the"Together with their families" wording.
