Silver envelopes?

Our wedding colors are lavender and silver.  Since you can't print in silver ink, I was going to have silver RSVP and regular envelopes to get a touch of silver.  I know I could do a mat but I don't really want to because it's an extra step and I'm trying to keep it simple.

Anyway, my question is:
Has anyone ordered the silver envelopes from cards and pockets?  Can you write on them easily and can you see the writing?  Would it be weird to have the pocketfold invites mailed in a silver envelope?  Would it be too flashy or would it look alright?

Re: Silver envelopes?

  • I think you can order a sample in silver.  We were looking at silver envelopes, but we ended up just getting white.

You can't print in silver, but you could print in grey and it would be close enough...

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • You could use a white or cream envelope with a silver lining.
  • We used the silver envelopes from Cards and Pockets and they worked very nicely!  We printed on them in Navy blue and it showed up just fine.  I think they added a nice touch, and no liner required because you can't see through them!

  • Too flashy, IMO.  You can get silver paint pens in the craft section of the store and use those, if what you want is silver ink.

  • I used the metalic silver envelopes from C&P.  They were fine.  I think I had to use a fairly thick black pen to do addresses, but it was totally fine.

I'm a little biased, but I think they were fabulous.
