Wedding Invitations & Paper

Sending Files to be printed

Did anyone use cardsandpockets or another printing vendor to print your own design for the invitations? I want to have cards and pockets print mine, but I am totally lost on converting it to a PDF and making text paths, CMYK codes!?!?! ARGH! Anyone out there that can give me some pointers?? Thanks!

  • I used vistaprint to print out all of my invites.  My friend designed our invites for us, using Microsoft Publisher.  In certain graphics software, sometimes you have options to immediately create a PDF from your file.

Otherwise, try googling convert txt (for example) to PDF.  You will get tons of webpages that will do the converting for you, for free.  I'm not sure about the text paths or CMYK codes (I don't even know what either are!), but if you just need a PDF made from your invite's file, then try the google thing.
  • Don't worry about the CMYK codes (those are color codes).  All you have to do is create your file.  Then you can convert it by going to "save as" and then clicking on PDF in the drop-down menu.
  • I've used cardsandpockets.com many times. When creating your file just make sure you are not in RGB mode, as long as you're in CMYK you are fine. They print almost exact to what I've created on screen.

Make sure to create outlines for all your text and just save as High Quality Print.

  • I used catprint.com, and they didn't ask for any specific file type.  Just uploaded the .JPEG files and everything turned out perfect!

  • I kind of have a similar question. I don't understand what it means when it says to convert your text to outlines. Can someone explain this to me? I used Microsoft Publisher to create my invites and inserts. So how do I convert text to outlines? Thanks!
  • Usually when creating files I use Indesign and Illustrator and there is an option to convert text to outlines. I'm not sure about Microsoft Publisher.
