email addresses

Hi everyone,
Not all of our guests have email addresses. Is there a way they can RSVP on the knot without one? I can't seem to find an option to allow them to rsvp with just their names. Help!!!

Chan.

Yes, with the formal rsvp card that should be included with your formal invitation.

Please do not invite people via e-mail to your wedding, that's tacky.  If you are planning on sending out actual invitations, then you should also be including the rsvp card as well as a stamped envelope for them to return it to you.  Keep in mind that not everyone has an email account or even know how to use the computer to begin with.....my father for example.  Poor guy would just be lost.

I would not trust TK tools as they tend to have a lot of glitches and seating charts, pics, rsvp's, etc. have magically disappeared before.  When it comes to your invites, having a hard copy in your hand is definitely the way to go.

If they don't have email addresses, are they really going to RSVP online?  Email is a pretty basic internet thing.  With that said, I think there probably is, we RSVPed for a wedding a few months ago and just needed one our names, and I know the couple didn't have our email addresses until after the wedding.  I also would be careful about using an online RSVP tool, at least check it frequently and make notes somewhere else as to who has and hasn't RSVPed in case there is technical problems.

If you don't want to include formal RSVP cards, at least include a phone number for your non-tech-savvy guests. I would expect a higher than normal non-response rate as well so get ready to call abunch of people once your deadline passes.

  • If you insist on using an online RSVP, don't use the one on the knot.  It is notorious for crashing and losing your data.  Use a better online service or just have them RSVP to an email address.
