Wedding Invitations & Paper

DIY invitations or pre-made?

Is anyone doing DIY invitations? Are you ordering them from an online site or store?  I'm inbetween whether its worth doing my own and spending a lot of money on ink for my printer or if i should just order them online or at a store. Thanks ladies!!

Re: DIY invitations or pre-made?

  • You need a 'both' option!  I'm ordering my supplies from Cards & Pockets but I'm taking them to a professional printer, then assembling them myself.
  • I designed my own.  Had them printed at officemax.  Cut and assembled on my own.  PIB.

  • I designed my own, but had Cards & Pockets print them for me. I then assembled everything myself. PIB under DIY.

I thought it was more worth it to DIY because they were custom made and unique, plus we saved a ton of money this way! We just sent them out this week, and our friends and family who have received them can't believe they're not professionally done. It's such a great sense of accomplishment :0)
  • I agree with jenny, I did both as well. I ordered the gatefold cards (& envelopes) from Cards & Pockets, bought other paper from Hobby Lobby (50% off), designed my invites, printed them on our Canon printer, cut, and assembled the invites myself. Everything turned out better than I imagined they would and I've got MANY compliments about how professional looking they were. HTH's!

On a side note.. do you have the codes for your siggy for your invitation RSVP count? Your's are so pretty! I love the heart envelope.
  • I did "both" as well...

I bought a box of invites from AC Moore and then Jazzed them up with some beachy rafia and a starfish stamp.. this is the "sample" wedding info- this is my first trial...
  • We ordered our invitations from Exclusively Weddings. They printed everything for us including the return address and the address on the RSVP envelope. I ordered the proofs, colored lined envelopes and the ink color is Pink to match my colors and the entire order with all the extra's and shipping came to $259 that works out to be $2.07 Each. They also have deals going all the time. Right now its 25% off an order of $250 or more or 20% off invitation orders of $199 or more. http://www.exclusivelyweddings.com/selectsavings.html

  • I am going DIY. I found some nice templates to work with and between my Aunt (a former DIY bride if I remember correctly), mom, MOH, and I can put my idea together easily. No matter how many guests I plan to invite, I have the man power! lol!
