Wedding invitations matching wedding theme

Do the invitations/rsvp cards have the match the theme of your wedding?
I am having an outdoor wedding and focusing on purple as my colour and burlap as an accent. I want to order my invites off of vistaprint as they have wicked deals... but can't find on i'm satisfied with that is matchy matchy. But have seen multiple other ones that are in different colours that I like.

    Our colors are gray, ivory, and touches of yellow.
    When we were at Staples looking at paper FI was like, I really like this green, and that was pretty much decided. I really didn't care if they matched, and they still look good to me. No one is even going to remember what color the invitations are.

    Just make sure that the invitations match the formality of your wedding - don't send a casual invitation to a formal event and vice versa.
