Re: when Do I mail my invitationa

  • 6 weeks to 2 months before the wedding.

  • I would say 2-3 months before the wedding as long as it is not a destination wedding or around a holiday. In that case, it would be further out.
  • 6 to 8 weeks before the WEDDING is when the invites go out.  RSVP date should be no more than 4 weeks before the wedding, less if at all possible.  If guests need advance notice send a STD out at least 6 months before the wedding, or an email with a date and notice that an invite is coming.  If they need extra info, create a website and share that with them.  Mailing invites in January for a late May wedding is WAY too early.

  • Here is the rule:

    Q. How far in advance should you send wedding invitations? What is the proper date to ask for the reply card?
    A. Ideally, invitations should go out six weeks before the wedding -- that gives guests plenty of time to clear their schedules for the day and make travel arrangements if they are out-of-towners. It also lets you make the RSVP date a little earlier -- say three weeks before the wedding date -- so you can get a final head count and start making a seating chart (if you'll have one) before the final-week-before-the-wedding crunch begins

Your wedding is August 7, 2010.
So you mail the invitations on June 26.
And your RSVP date is July 17.
  • Thanks Ladies I appreciate all your help!
