Save the Date Magnets - Attachment Card?

Is it tacky to send a magnet save the date without an attachment card?  There are two issues here - one is the expense, I would rather use that money somewhere else and the other is timing because I can't figure out exactly what I would want the attachment card to say and I want to get these ordered by Monday morning.

Advice?

Thanks!!

Re: Save the Date Magnets - Attachment Card?

  • I ordered large save the date magnets and attached them to card stock that I got at Joann's for .25 cents each. I cut the card stock to be a little bit bigger then the magnet but small enough to fit in the envelope. I was able to get 4 out of each card stock sheet. So I only needed to buy 12 sheets at .25 cents each = $3. That was enough for 48 large magnets.

I then bought those removable glue stickies to put on the magnet to attach to the card stock for a few dollars.

I didn't write anything on the card stock. All the important info was on the magnet (Names, date, location, website)

  • You don't need it.  I sent mine loose.  I had the magnet and an insert with hotel info.  If you aren't putting anything else in the envelope besides the magnet, I would just double check that it's not going to stick to the inside of a metal mailbox, because that will cause added issues.

  • I just did the same as PP.  I made my own little card with the hotel room block info and then put that in the envelope with the magnet.
  • I have received multiple magnet STDs and none of them have ever had anything else in the envelope with them.  I had never even heard of it until I saw multiple questions about it here.  As long as you have the date, location, your names, and your wedding website (if you have one; accommodations if you don't have one) then you are fine.

  • Thanks for the tips!  I never thought of the potential mailbox problem.  Interestingly, I put the attachment card and the sample magnet in the envelope and it still stuck to the fridge.

  • It's tacky to send a save-the date magent period. Seriously.
