Re: Michael's Wedding Invitation kits

  • Yup! They are just fine, just like getting the DIY invitations at target or any other store. The template on how to get it working right should be included in the box, you shouldn't have any problems.

And FYI if you sign up online at micheals.com they email you 40% off coupons you can use which is a great deal of savings. They also have these in the paper every other weekend.
  • I used the Michael's kits for all of my invitation stuff and they came out beautifully. I have had tons of compliments on them. I would definitely recommend them. As far as the price goes, they actually come out cheaper than buying all the paper separate and doing each piece by itself... Hope this helps!

  • We did the same thing only with ones I bought at Wal-Mart. They came out just fine and they were easy to print on. With the WM ones, you just download the template online and it is already formatted and everything, just type your info and print them. Easy peasy!
  • I actually just prinited out the invites this morning using a kit.  It was a Wilton kit that I ordered online but have seen smilar styles in Michaels.  I had planned on getting them printed at Kinko's but was told the cards were too small for their printers.  So I had a bit of a meltdown thinking I didn't leave myself enough time to print them out and my MOH came to the rescue.  We spent about 2 hours last night putting all the info on the templates and saving them.  I went to "start" printing today, and literally finished every piece in 3 hours.  And we have 135 invites with 7 different pieces that needed to be printed!!  It was such a piece of cake that I feel like a complete moron for my meltdown yesterday.

[QUOTE]I also got mine from Micheals. What i am going to do is take them to FedEx/Kinkos to print. You just put the template with your wording in it on a USB port and take it in and they will print it for a super cheap cost. The problem with doing it on your own printer is some of those invitation look better when they are printed with a laser printer which is what kinkos had. My friend just went and got hers done.

Go early enough to give yourself time in case they can't do it.  It depends on the size of your invites and insert cards.  A friend of mine went so that was our plan.  But when I went there with our square invites and differenly shaped cards, they said that our cards were too small for the machine, other than maybe the actual invites, and they may get stuck in their machine and they have no way of replacing them.  If you have bigger cards it sholdn't be a problem, but i would just go soon enough so hat if they can't you have time to print them out yourself.

  • What fonts did you use?  We can't decide on which to use.  The one in the template is all caps even if we don't use caps.
  • We downloaded our font too.  We googled free fonts, and the site was called like 1000freefonts or something like that.  The one we picked is called Baroque Script.
