Wedding Invitations & Paper

Vistaprint Envelopes

So I had heard that the Vistaprint envelopes were cheap and thin. So I ordered the wedding example thing to compare. They only gave me a "matching" envelopes... not one of their regulars. So now I still don't know what to do!

Re: Vistaprint Envelopes

  • We ordered our inviatations from VP and looking back on it,  I wish I would have gotten "nicer" envelopes elsewhere. We ordered the coodinating envelopes with the printed return address and while I like the design on the outside and the printing of the address, I wish they weren't so thin. With that being said, I'm figuring most people won't notice the envelope and will be more excited with that is inside! We upgraded to the linen paper and are thrilled with our invitations.

I'm pretty sure the evelope they send with the wedding sample kit is the only weight of envelope they have. Hope that helps!

  • The "matching" envelopes are the upgraded ones and are usually not see through.  The regular/standard envelopes are practically see through and very thin.  So when you order, get the "matching" envelopes.  Even if you are creating your own design, they will have "matching" envelopes to upgrade to, but they will just be plain white, but not the flimsy plain white ones.
  • Thanks everyone!

I have a hard time paying for things that I think are unnecessary (hell I even bought a used wedding dress). So for something they are just going to throw away I think I will get the regular envelopes.

  • We used the plain white ones that came with the invitations. I had gotten a free stamp previously from VP so FI stamped all of our invitation and RSVP envelopes while I addressed them. We did opt to upgrade the invitation to a slightly heavier cardstock.

  • My STDs (and eventaully my invites) came from there and for something that will get thrown out 5 minutes after being opened, they're perfectly fine. Mine are dark blue on the back and you can barely see it through. If you like the matching (I didn't like the ones that matched my invites), consider getting a groupon to offset! They regularly have $70 for $17.
