FIL's not paying (Invitation wording)

I saw a previous poster that started a thread about her FMIL offended that they were not on the invitation as hosts, yet they were only paying for small details of the wedding/reception.

FIL's are only buying bouquets, but I want to include them on the invitation. Mainly FI and I are paying for the majority of the wedding with my parents, and since my FIL's aren't "hosting" can I still include them in the invtation wording?

(Side Note- my parents won't be offended if I include FIL's)

Re: FIL's not paying (Invitation wording)

  • I just read that

"requests the honor of your presence
at the marriage of their children"

is ONLY for church weddings. Our ceremony is NOT a formal church ceremony. So should I be using

"reuqests the pleasure of your company
at the marriage of their children"

  • lovethebeach, since you've been so helpful, may I ask you if you think it is an unnecessary expense to get direction cards for another invitation insert? Our locations are local to all of our guests, and since they will have a physical address, I didn't think it should be a big deal to do without a map insert. Do you agree?
