When to send invites

I'm a little confused as to when to send out invites. I've heard different responses to this question and I've been planning on sending them out at the beginning of April for our June 5th wedding. However, I was reading over the checklist of things to do for The Knot and it said I should be sending them out 3 months in advance. So, which would be best?

I saw that the knot said that... but ladies around here say 6-8 weeks. We're planning to send them 2 months in advance.

The Knot recently changed their checklist and the dates got all screwy.  It originally had them going out in the 6-8 week window.  We're sending ours at 8 weeks.

You're at the right timeframe. Three months is too early.

3 months they'll just get lost, 6 weeks is perfect.
