Save the Date - Necessary?

FI and i are having a very small wedding, and all the guests are family members or friends we see pretty much every day. Is it necessary to send out STDs? and if so, when do we send them out? how elaborate/simple should/could they be?

We didn't send out STDs. We just saved the money for some other expense. I don't think they're necessary in your situation either. If you're guests were spread out across the country/world and you had a good amount of OOT guests, then I'd say yes. But in this case, not necessary.

You definitely don't need to send out STDs. If you do they should be sent out 6-8 months before you wedding. And they can be as casual or formal as you want.

Without a lot of out of town guests, they are really sort of a waste or money and postage!
