Wedding Invitations & Paper

timeframe for invitations

I got engaged a couple of weeks ago and my FI and I are trying to pull off a late October wedding THIS YEAR!!!  Can anyone tell me how long it takes to order invitations?  Is here a schedule to follow timeframe wise leading up to the wedding day?  I am wondering if I have enough time???

Re: timeframe for invitations

  • you have PLENTY of time.. but the time it takes for them to come in depends where you order them from. You can go buy them at micheals or local crafts stores and print them yourself.

I ordered mine from exclusivelyweddings.com, they told me it would be 10 takes in production and then 5 to ship and I got them 8-10 days after my order was placed. Most online sites wont take more then 2 weeks to personalize and send.

As far as mailing them out, that should be done 6-8 weeks before the wedding, also still plenty of time. Check out the knot checklist, its very helpful. Good luck!
  • I ordered mine from Rexcraft and they got delivered about a week to a week and a half later.  Check bridal magazines for check list.  Book a ceremony site and reception site first.

  • It really depends on who you order from.  I would encourage you to start looking for what you like ASAP as it can be overwhelming.  Sort of like dresses.

Dresses may be easier to take in than let out, but guest lists are not. -- kate51485
  • Mine took 8 weeks for everything to arrive.  You have time to order now and still mail by mid-August.  If you go with a DIY or online option that has faster turn around all the better!
