Wedding Invitations & Paper

How many to invite??

We have a strict limit of 100 guests. However, I know not all people will come. What is a good number to invite if our physical bodies can only be 100? Thanks!

You should invite as many as your venue holds and your budget allows.  It that's 100 people, then you should invite exactly 100 people.

Please plan on 100% attendence and don't do a B list.  People who say they won't be able to make it, may infact come in the end (like my cousins from Hawaii to my IL wedding who were sure they couldn't come).

Only invite those that you can host. If its 100 people, only invite 100 people.

We had may people who our parents swore would not be able to make it to the wedding accept and luckily we budgeted for our entire guest list.

What would you do if you invited 130 people and 120 showed up? How would you accomodate them?

  • Ditto PPs, invite no more than 98 people (remember to count yourselves).

  • The other thing to remember is that a lot of venues give you a max number that may not actually be comfortable if that many ppl came.  Like, my venue says they can accommodate up to 150 guests but that is with 10 people to a table (that really only comfortably seats 8) and tables on the dance floor.  So if you invite 100 and only 85 (or whatever) come, you may have a much more spacious and comfortable feel in the room.

  • I had the flexibility of having as many people as I wanted at our venue. I was aiming for 300 at the wedding, so I invited more then that knowing not all could attend.  I thought we invited 370 people, but found out later that we invited 430 (I guess my FMIL gave me the number of invites, not people invited. I paniced when I realized that). It all worked out fine though, and we are having 290 guest.  The smaller the wedding, the higher the rate of yes's you'll get though, since you're inviting only your closest circle.

<div>This.  Our venue can accommodate 145, but we're only inviting 100 so we're not all crammed together.  There is usually a big difference between what a venue can actually hold, and what it can hold comfortably.</div>
